The series followed the trials and tribulations of Frances and Robert, played by Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church, a married couple going through a long, drawn-out divorce. The show premiered on HBO in 2016, and Parker received a Golden Globe nod for her performance.

Parker produced Divorce through her company Pretty Matches, and she came to a joint decision to cancel it after three seasons, alongside her long-time producing partner Alison Benson, showrunner Liz Tuccillo and HBO executives.

“Between scheduling and complicated lives and actors, it was a confluence of things that came together that helped us decide that six was something that we wanted to do, and we felt confidence that Liz could achieve what we were all hoping for for this final look at Frances and Robert,” said Parker in a statement.

Released by the premium cabler Saturday, the one-minute clip features Sarah Jessica Parker aka Frances and on-screen ex-husband Thomas Haden Church aka Robert during a not-so-upbeat family meeting.

The clip also confirms the third season’s premiere date — July 1. This means that the comedy will return a full 16 months after its Season 2 finale aired. HBO gave Divorce a six-episode Season Three order back in November.

Per the official logline, the forthcoming season will follow Frances (Parker) and Robert (Church) as they “encounter surprises that spin their post-divorce lives in unexpected directions.”

Other returning cast members include Molly Shannon, Becki Newton, Talia Balsam, Sterling Jerins and Charlie Kilgore and Tracy Letts. James Leisure will also appear this season as Frances’ new love interest.

Multiple sources report that Robert De Niro and wife, Grace Hightower have decided to go their separate ways after more than 20 years together.

A source close to the couple told PEOPLE that the two have separated and are living apart. “Sometimes things don’t work out the way you hope or want them to,” the source added. According to Page Six, who was the first to break the news, it was the 75-year-old actor who has moved out of the family home and is no longer living with his wife or their seven-year-old daughter Helen.

The couple met in London in the early ‘90s and after dating for a decade they married. The two share two children together: 20-year-old son Elliott and daughter Helen. De Niro has four other children from previous relationships.

This isn’t De Niro and Hightower’s first separation. In 1999 De Niro filed for divorce but in a shocking twist of events the two decided to remain together and not sign the divorce papers. In 2004 they renewed their vows surrounded by family, friends and a swarm of A-listers at their New York State property.

HBO and Divorce are still going strong, with the comedy coming back for season three folioing lengthy negotiations according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

The premium cable network has renewed the comedy starring Parker almost eight months after the show’s season 2 finale. HBO has renewed the series for a six-episode third season — that’s considerably less in caparison to the first and second season which tallied ten and eight episodes respectively. 

News of a renewal comes alongside some changes including the promotion of co-executive producer Liz Tuccillo to showrunner and executive producer and recurring star Becki Newton, who has been bumped to series regular. Also starring are Thomas Haden Church, Molly Shannon, Talia Balsam, Tracy Letts, Sterling Jerins and Charlie Kilgore.

Divorce follows the dissolution of Frances (Parker) and Robert’s (Thomas Haden Church) marriage.

The statement disputed rumours of any “salacious” events causing the split, saying instead that they remain best friends whose romantic relationship has run its course.

Jenna has been candid about their relationship telling Health magazine in February that she doesn’t get why people think her marriage is “perfect.” “We’re not perfect! Are you kidding? We fight like other couples, we disagree about things, we have days where we don’t really like each other.”
