]]>In a recent interview with IndieWire, Blunt said a sequel might happen in the end. “I think there’s an idea, that he says is great. And he says this guy came in and cracked the case. How the stars will all align for us to be able to do it. I don’t know. I hope they do.”
The “he” blunt refers to is probably Matthew Robinson, the co-director and co-writer of The invention of Lying who pitched an idea for the sequel and was brought to write the sequel.
It seems Blunt remembers the first movie fondly. “I absolutely adored it,” she said. “It broke my body in half, but I’d be willing to do it again to work with those boys who I love. So let’s see.”

Matthew Robinson (The Invention Of Lying) will be in charge of writing the script. It’s safe to expect to see Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt returning to their respective roles, but nothing is confirmed just yet. Doug Liman still hasn’t confirmed he’ll be back for the sequel either, but we’re expecting him to return since he always spoke highly of this project and its legacy.
“It’s way more meaningful to me that people are talking about the film today than if they were talking about it when it came out because that, for me, is the goal – to make movies that stand the test of time,” said Liman about Edge Of Tomorrow.
