]]>“To our family of Fast fans everywhere, we feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga. That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May,” he wrote in a Twitter post. “While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration.”
The reason for the delay is, of course, the spread of the Coronavirus. Fast & Furious 9 joins other movies that have been pushed back due to the virus such as the next Bond movie, No Time to Die, Peter Rabbit 2, and Greyhound. Production of the next Mission Impossible and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic were put on hold.

This can be seen as a hint for Cody playing the role of Brian in the new film since Cody Walker (and his brother Caleb) has already filled Paul shoes when he helped finish the 7th movie after the accident that killed Paul. Another hint is the news of Jordana Brewster return to the cast. Brewster played Mia, Toretto’s sister and O’conner’s Wife and was absent from the 8th film.
It is all, of course, pure speculation as there was no official announcement about the return of O’Conner’s character or the extent of this return.
