]]>The renewal was announced by the series’ leading ladies Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke in a cheeky video where they answered fan questions. After being asked if Season 2 is going to happen, the two stars excitedly confirmed there’s more Firefly Lane on the way.
According to its official logline, Firefly Lane centers on Tully and Kate, two best friends who “support each other through good times and bad with an unbreakable bond that carries them from their teens to their 40s.”
Firefly Lane premiered on Netflix back in February and proved to be a huge hit with the viewers. Following its release, it made it to no. 1 on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, and Netflix later revealed it was viewed by 49 million people in its first 28 days. In addition to Heigl and Chalke, the series also stars Ben Lawson, Beau Garrett, and Yael Yurman.

]]>She joins Katherine Heigl in the streamer’s reimagining of Kristin Hannah’s best-selling novel. This is Hannah’s third novel currently in development for the small screen following The Nightingale and The Great Alone.
The 10-episode drama follows a friendship between two women over 30. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Chalke will play Kate Mularkey, who has often lived in the shadow of Tully Hart (Heigl), a famous talk-show host and journalist. Awkward and shy, Kate possesses a self-deprecating sense of humor and is often underestimated, but she’s fiercely intelligent and fiercely loyal.”
Penning the adaptation is Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End). She will also serve as showrunner, and executive producer.

]]>Multiple outlets report that Netflix has put out a straight-to-series order for 10 episodes of Firefly Lane, based on the best-selling novel of the same title. The Firefly adaptation follows two other adaptations based on Hannah’s novels, The Nightingale and The Great Alone at TriStar Pictures.
Penning the script is Maggie Friedman. She will also serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Stephanie Germain. Hannah will co-executive produce.
Firefly Lane follows Kate and Tully, two women who meet as young girls and become inseparable best friends through thirty years of ups and downs, successes and failures, depression and disappointments. When an unthinkable betrayal breaks them apart, the two women go their separate ways and it’s unclear whether they will ever be able to reconcile.
