The Scrubs alum is set to star in Netflix’s adaptation of Firefly Lane.
She joins Katherine Heigl in the streamer’s reimagining of Kristin Hannah’s best-selling novel. This is Hannah’s third novel currently in development for the small screen following The Nightingale and The Great Alone.
The 10-episode drama follows a friendship between two women over 30. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Chalke will play Kate Mularkey, who has often lived in the shadow of Tully Hart (Heigl), a famous talk-show host and journalist. Awkward and shy, Kate possesses a self-deprecating sense of humor and is often underestimated, but she’s fiercely intelligent and fiercely loyal.”
Penning the adaptation is Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End). She will also serve as showrunner, and executive producer.
