]]>According to its official synopsis, this historical anthology series will peel back the curtain on the personal and political lives of the enigmatic women at the heart of the White House.
Anderson will join Viola Davis and Michelle Pfeiffer, set to play Michelle Obama and Betty Ford. Amy Israel, EVP of scripted programming for Showtime Networks, said it’s inspiring to have them at the forefront of this series.
“Gillian Anderson is an actress of incredible range and exquisite talent—she is the perfect choice to complete this powerhouse trio, who will inhabit the roles of these iconic women,” said Israel in a statement.
Susanne Bier is set to direct and executive produce, while the rest of the cast will include Aaron Eckhart, Judy Greer, and Rhys Wakefield.

The role of Eleanor Roosevelt is yet to be cast, but whoever ends up winning it will be in pretty amazing company. Viola Davis has been cast in the role of Michelle Obama, while the three-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer agreed to play Betty Ford.
Aaron Eckhart’s casting in the role of Gerald Ford makes us even more excited for this project, especially since this will be his first major TV appearance. The Dark Knight star mostly appeared in guest television roles so far, most recently in Matthew Weiner’s The Romanoffs.

Michelle Obama isn’t the only First Lady who will be in the focus of Season 1 of this show. It will also feature Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford, but we’re yet to find out who’ll play these enigmatic women who made history.
Aaron Cooley was in charge of writing this promising series, and he’ll also be serving as executive producer alongside Viola Davis. Michelle Obama isn’t the only historical figure she’s currently tapped to play. How to Get Away with Murder star is also set to appear in the upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic.
