]]>This year’s ceremony, hosted by Rob Riggle, will take place on November 3rd at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and will honor award-worthy films and actors, who are already considered as front-runners in this year’s Oscar race.
The list of major winners includes Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory) and Renée Zellweger (Judy). They were joined by Al Pacino (The Irishman) and Laura Dern (Marriage Story) who scored supporting acting awards.
The Irishman and Ford v Ferrari are the only two movies with three trophies under their belt, most of them in technical categories. Avengers: Endgame is the winner of the coveted Hollywood Blockbuster Award.

]]>The List of the projects coming to TIFF also includes some of the year’s most promising Oscar hopefuls. Mr. Rogers biopic A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood starring Tom Hanks and John Crowley’s The Goldfinch are also a part of the lineup.
According to TIFF co-head and artistic director Cameron Bailey, the team behind this festival worked tirelessly to bring some of the year’s biggest films to Toronto this September.
“We’re thrilled to unveil galas and special presentations that bring the brightest lights in the film to our festival audience. Our new programming team has been hard at work for months to deliver the compelling stories, acclaimed filmmakers, and top onscreen talent that mark our two highest-profile sections,” said Bailey in a statement.
This year’s TIFF will kick off on September 5, with Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band serving as the opening film. It will close on September 15, with Marjane Satrapi’s latest English-language feature Radioactive.

]]>Ford V. Ferrari centers on the battle between Ford and Ferrari to win Le Mans in 1966. It follows engineer Carroll Shelby and race-car driver Ken Miles, who team up to make racing history by building a car that can beat Ferrari for Ford Motor Company.
Oscar winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale will take on the main roles, and they’ll be in a pretty good company. The supporting cast features the likes of Caitriona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, and Tracy Letts and Remo Girone as Henry Ford II and Enzo Ferrari.
Judging by the first trailer, Ford V. Ferrari may be on the front lines of this year’s Oscar race. Its release date also hints at its potential – the film is scheduled to come out on November 15th, in the peak of awards season.
