Miller, who also plays in The Flash and Madam Secretary, said he just doesn’t want to play straight characters anymore. “Their stories have been told (and told),” he wrote.

This development does not prevent the creation of another season, but it does make it somewhat unlikely. TVLine reports that sources in the network say that currently there are no plans to develop such a project. It should be noted, though, that Purcell hinted a while ago that a sixth season is planned.

Prison Break initially followed Scofield as he gets himself imprisoned in order to break out with his brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) who is about to be executed. Later seasons follow the brothers as they struggle with more obstacles outside the prison.

NeXt, an AI thriller about the emergence of a deadly, rogue artificial intelligence, comes from creator and executive producer Manny Coto.

The original show’s creator Chris Carter and Fox are developing a comedic animated version of the show. The series, titled The X-Files: Albuquerque, will follow the X-Files’ B-Team, an office of agents tasked with the X-Files “too wacky, ridiculous or downright dopey” cases. 

Carter will serve as an executive producer for the show alongside Rocky Russo, Jeremy Sosenko, and Gabe Rotter. The series will be animated by Bento Box who worked on Netflix’s Paradise PD with Russo and Sosenko. Rotter has worked with Carter on several projects in the past and wrote for The X-files revival season.

The original series ran from 1993 to 2002 and was followed by two feature films. It was renewed for two more seasons before ending in 2018. There was also a short lived attempt at an animated version but it lasted only 13 episodes. The franchise continued in comics form.

The Masked Singer has been renewed by Fox for a new and fourth season. The renewal was confirmed during the network’s earning call with investors Wednesday, two weeks ahead of its season three finale. 

The format sees celebrities face off singing while clad from head to toe in an elaborate costume, which conceals their identity.

“Our entertainment schedule in the fall looks incredibly stable thanks to a large amount of our programming already being filmed and edited. The only open question in our fall entertainment schedule is whether we get Masked Singer back into production in time for fall or midseason,” Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said.

The season 3 finale of The Masked Singer is slated to air May 20.

9-1-1 and its spinoff series Lone Star have been renewed for seasons four and two respectively. According to Variety, the shows have very well received averaging 16 million viewers per episode in multi-platform viewing.

Multiple outlets report that the network has ordered a second season of Duncanville. 

The animated family comedy, from Amy Poehler and The Simpsons’ Mike and Julie Scully, follows a wonderfully average 15-year-old boy with a rich fantasy life and the people in his world. 

“Duncanville is another great addition to our Sunday Animation Domination block,” said Michael Thorn, President of Entertainment at Fox Entertainment.

“Amy, Mike and Julie have been fantastic partners, as have the teams at 20th and Universal Television. Our thanks also go out to the entire voice cast, including Ty, Riki, Betsy, Yassir, Zach, Joy, Rashida and Wiz. Duncan may be an average teen. However, the show is anything but, and we can’t wait for a brand-new season of Harris family adventures.”

Season 2 of Duncanville is expected to air during the 2021-22 season.

The independent broadcast network announced Friday that it has decided to cancel its police drama series starring Stephen Dorff. Deputy hailed from creator Will Beall. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision to axe the show was made purely based on ratings — during its 13-episode run, the series totaled 3.66 million viewers. The series ranked as Fox’s second lowest-rated drama series this season, ahead of Almost Family, the other freshman drama axed by Fox. 

Dorff, who starred as the lead in the series, was a very much sought after talent following his performance on HBO’s Detective.

Fox and the actress and writer have sealed a deal for Thorne to develop both scripted and unscripted content for the network.

“If I was able to tell my 8-year-old self that you’re going to sign a development deal with Fox by the time you’re 22, I would just be like, you’re lying, no way,” Thorne told Variety. “I’m honestly so proud and happy and so thankful to the network that they believe in me and they believe in the mindset I have of this generation.”

“I think they really want to introduce a young voice for teens,” she continued. “Considering no writers or producers are 22, really, especially working for a big network like Fox… Right now I’m trying to concentrate on what is this teen show that will really make teens feel like they are watching a show that their friend wrote, something right up their alley.”

Thorne is best known for her roles on Netflix’s The Babysitter, Assassination Nation, and Famous in Love. She most recently appeared on Season 3 of The Masked Singer as the Swan.

In Call Me Kat, Kat (Bialik), a 39-year-old woman struggles every day against society and her mother Sheila (Swoosie Kurtz) to prove that you cannot have everything you want and still be happy. Which is why she spent the money her parents set aside for her wedding to open a Cat Café in Louisville, Kentucky. 

Jackson will play Max, Kat’s high school crush who recently returned from teaching overseas and now works as a bartender across the street from the Cat Café. Max is coming off a long-term relationship with an ex whom Kat imagines to be the most beautiful woman in the world, but Max values personality and humor over physical attractiveness.

Also starring is Kyla Pratt.
