*Game of Thrones Season 8 spoilers ahead*

Following the divisive eighth season of Game of Thrones, fans have had mixed feelings about who ended up sat on the Iron Throne. Tyrion Lannister proposed that kings need a good story and added: “Who has a better story than Bran the Broken?”

While many fans would have preferred Jon Snow or Daenerys Targaryen to take the throne, Isaac Hempstead Wright agrees that Bran was the perfect contender for King. He explained his reasons at London’s BFI Southbank event earlier this week (November 18).

When asked about Brandon Stark’s story, Wright said: “I would obviously say this, but I think that Bran had the best character arc. In the very first episode you think he’s toast – he’s dead.

“He grows and learns the hard way about a lot of things. He goes from being this traditionally vulnerable character to the most powerful person there is.”

He continued: “I was pretty happy with just him becoming the Three-Eyed Raven, but what a great story where this boy – this disabled 10-year-old in the harshest world ever – [comes] to triumph. And so to see him become king and be victorious is so…it’s brilliant to have a disabled character win the whole of Game of Thrones. I mean, what are the odds of that when you have dragons and all these kinds of things? Bran comes out on top, and it was really special.”

The first grade class of 2026 is going to sound straight out of Westeros.

That’s because people are naming their babies after Game of Thrones characters more than ever in 2019.

The HBO series wraps up this year, with parents appearing to want to make the magic last by using the unusual monikers for their own children.

According to BabyCenter — a website that tracks naming trends — the name Olenna is up 71%, Ellaria is up 53%, and Stark is up 9%. Khaleesi, which has already been deemed a favorite, increase by 7%, while Jorah jumped 36%, and Tyrion went up by 20%. Daenerys and Dany are also expected to climb the charts.

While the names themselves may be bizarre, the trend of naming kids based on Game of Thrones hardly is when you consider that the show, which is based on The Song of Ice and Fire book series, earns three times the viewership of any other show on HBO.

We wonder what names will crack the list by the time the series ends in May.

While we continue to wait for winter, HBO has given us our first taste of just how icy it will be…

It’s no secret that the final season of Game of Thrones is set to include a rather large, epic battle.

The recently released teaser trailer demonstrates what we’re in for as it depicts Daenerys Targaryen’s all-important war map at Dragonstone being engulfed by flames and frost.

The sequence is a nod to both Dany’s two dragons taking on the White Walker army (with Dany’s other dragon!), as well as the original title of George R. R. Martin’s book series, A Song of Ice and Fire.

Get your dragonglass while you can — winter is coming in April 2019.

Since it premiered in 2001, HBO’s fantasy drama Game of Thrones captivated the attention of viewers all around the world, so it isn’t surprising that its eighth and final season is the most anticipated television event in 2019. Now, while the details about the events of Game of Thrones finale are being kept under wraps, members of the cast occasionally let something slip some info during the interviews.

The most recent cast member who “slipped” about the topic was Kit Harington, who plays the character of Jon Snow on the show. Harington discussed Game of Thrones finale during his appearance at 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and hinted that there will be fans who won’t be too happy with the show’s ending.

“I think a TV series that’s spanned eight, nine years is an incredibly difficult thing to end,” –said Harington, who already finished shooting on Game of Thrones. “I think not everyone’s going to be happy, you know, and you can’t please everyone. My favorite TV shows are Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and The Wire, and they all ended in a way that…It’s never going to satisfy you.”

If we read between the lines, Harington is trying to tell us that lots of our favorite characters will end up dead, something that show has been doing to us since season one. The darker outcome would be that White Walkers end up conquering the Westeros and that all our heroes turn into undead. Unfortunately, we will just have to sit here with all these crazy ideas and wait for HBO to be kind enough an release season eight at some point in 2019.

Although Game of Thrones will wrap up after the eighth season is aired in 2019, HBO will not give up on the world of Westeros. The network announced on Friday that they have placed an order for a Game of Thrones prequel pilot, which will be thousands of years before the events in the original series.

The pilot will be created by Kingsman: The Secret Service writer Jane Goldman and George R. R. Martin, who wrote A Song of Ice and Fire novel series on which Game of Thrones is based on. If the pilot ends up getting a series order, Goldman will serve as a series’ showrunner.

HBO revealed a short synopsis for this Game of Thrones prequel:

Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.

Back in 2017, HBO hired several writers to develop scripts for multiple Game of Thrones prequel series including Jane Goldman, Carly Wray (Westworld), Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), and Brian Helgeland (Legend).  This is the one that managed to get a pilot order, and also might be the last one.

HBO’s Casey Bloys spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the prequels back in July 2017 and revealed that the network isn’t planning on making more than one Game of Thrones prequel series.

“My sense right now is we would be very lucky if one of the four rises to the level that we have set.” – said Bloys. “Now, theoretically, what if they’re all great? That’s a high-class problem that I’ll solve when it comes to that. But knowing what we know about the development process, that’s why we wanted to increase our odds. But I do not see a scenario where we have more than one. But again, high-class problem.”

2018 will not bring fans new episodes of Game Of Thrones. This was confirmed by HBO on Thursday, with the network announcing that the eighth and final season of the show will air in 2019. This will be the first year in which there is no new material from the series since first airing in 2011. The possibility of the show taking a year off was hinted by the showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss in the past, but the fans hoped for a better outcome.

HBO didn’t reveal the possible time of the year in which the final season will be aired, but it should be expected in spring, something that was a case with all but one season.

While confirming the 2019 airing date, HBO also shared some info about the directors and writers. Benioff and Weiss will be among the directors of the season, alongside David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik. Nutter and Sapochnik directed 10 episodes of Game Of Thrones on previous occasions combined and both received Emmy Awards for Best Directing (Nutter for “Mother’s Mercy“, Sapochnik for “Battle of the Bastards“). The showrunners Benioff and Weiss are also the writers of the show’s final season, joining forces with Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.

Filming for the eight season of the show began on October 23, 2017. Unlike previous seasons, this one will only consist of six episodes, but they will have a longer run time. Also, the material for the final season will be mostly original and based on the guidelines provided by A Song of Ice and Fire writer George R. R. Martin. Martin is currently writing the final novels in the series, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring. It is important to note that the ending of the TV show and the novels might not be the same.

In the past couple of weeks, the news has been circling that Jason Momoa is set to reprise his role of Khal Drogo in the last season of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones. The speculations started after he has been seen on the show’s set in Belfast. Although that sounds exciting and something everyone would like to see, it isn’t happening. It turns out Momoa was just visiting some of his old friends.

“I just showed up to see [producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and I just happened to see people on set,” said Momoa while speaking to Entertainment Weekly. “I haven’t been over there in a long time. You just want to see your friends and you end up to make headlines going, ‘Drogo’s back!’ and I’m like, ‘He’s dead! He can’t come back, it wouldn’t work.'”

Despite the fact that he isn’t on the show anymore, Momoa is involved in the show as a fan and even managed to get some insight into the last season of Game of Thrones. He said the season will be amazing and unbelievable.

“Just knowing how amazing this season is going to be…” said the actor. “It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It’s going to be unbelievable. It’s going to f**k up a lot of people. And it was a bummer because I’m a huge fan and I didn’t want to know what’s going on. I was like, ‘Damn, I didn’t want to know that!'”

Filming of season 8 of the show officially started on October 23, 2017. Although HBO aired one season each year since the show started, that might not be the case this time. HBO programming president Casey Bloys revealed that there is a chance that season 8, containing only six episodes, will air in 2019.
