The post 2024 Grammy Awards: Taylor Swift Wins Big With “Midnights” & Announces New Album appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Midnights was in the running for album of the year alongside SZA’s SOS, Boygenius’ The Record, and Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts, and managed to beat them all and take the trophy home. Swift thanked her fans in her acceptance speech and revealed that her next album The Tortured Poets Department will be out on April 19.
It was also a big night for Miley Cyrus, who picked up the record of the year trophy with “Flowers”. This smash hit was also in the running for song of the year, but it lost out to Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”. Victoria Monét also emerged as the winner in to big four categories after collecting a Grammy for the best new artist.
Phoebe Bridgers, who came into the night with seven nominations, was the ceremony’s top winner with four trophies, including three with Boygenius. SZA, Victoria Monét, and Killer Mike also walked away with three awards by the end of the night.
The 2024 Grammy Awards returned to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 4, with Trevor Noah serving as a host.

]]>Eilish is a seven-time Grammy winner, who’s coming into this year’s ceremony with an additional six nods. She owes five of her nominations to “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie, which is in the running for song and record of the year.
Lipa has three Grammy wins under her belt, and she’s also coming into this year’s ceremony with multiple nominations. Her song “Dance the Night” was also featured in Barbie, and it earned her two Grammy nods, including song of the year.
As for Rodrigo, the three-time Grammy winner scored six additional Grammy nods with her sophomore album Guts. This LP is in the running for album of the year and best pop vocal album, while its lead single “Vampire” received nods for record and song of the year.
The 2024 Grammy Awards will return to Los Angeles on February 4, with Trevor Noah serving as the host. SZA topped the list of nominees with nine nods, followed by Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and Serban Ghenea with seven each.

]]>Noah shared the exciting news during a recent episode of his podcast What Now? with Trevor Noah and said he can’t wait to hit the Grammys stage again.
“I think it’s also important to acknowledge something. I’m hosting the Grammys. I’m excited about that, yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then experience and comment on it in person while it is happening,” said Noah.
2023 has been a pretty wild year for the South African comedian, who announced his exit as the host of The Daily Show. What Now? with Trevor Noah is his first major project following his departure and it launched on Spotify just last month.
The 66th Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. SZA topped the list of nominees with nine nods, followed by Phoebe Bridgers, Serban Ghenea, and Victoria Monét with seven each.

Its hit song “Kill Bill” will be one of the front-runners for song and record of the year, but both fields are pretty crowded. Swift’s “Anti-Hero”, Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Batiste’s “Butterfly”, and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” are also in the running in both categories.

]]>The post Viola Davis Reaches EGOT Status Following Her Grammy Win appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Davis joined the EGOT club thanks to her memoir Finding Me, which won her a Grammy in the best audiobook, narration, and storytelling recording category. This was her first Grammy nomination, and she defeated the likes of Jamie Foxx and Lin-Manuel Miranda to win this award.
In her acceptance speech, Davis dedicated this award to her six-year-old self, saying she wrote it to honor her, her life, her joy, her trauma, her everything. She also added it’s been such a journey to write this book and reach the EGOT status thanks to its success.
Davis’ quest for EGOT started in 2001 when she won her first Tony Award for best-featured actress in a play with King Hedley II. She won another Tony in 2010, for best leading actress in a play with Fences. The adaptation of this play won her an Oscar for best supporting actress in 2016, while she won her Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series with How to Get Away with Murder.

]]>Beyoncé came into the ceremony as the most-nominated artist with nine nods, and managed to pick up four awards: best dance/electronic recording (“Break My Soul”), best dance/electronic album (Renaissance), best traditional R&B performance (“Plastic Off the Sofa”) and best R&B song (“Cuff It”).
It was also a big night for Harry Styles, who defeated the likes of Adele, Bad Bunny, and Lizzo to win one of the night’s biggest awards – album of the year. Despite missing out on album of the year, Lizzo managed to pick up the record of the year award with “About Damn Time”.
One of the night’s biggest shockers saw Bonnie Raitt defeat the likes of Harry Styles, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift to win song of the year with “Just Like That”. The best new artist award went to the jazz singer Samara Joy, who defeated the likes of Måneskin, Latto, and Anitta to get her hands on this trophy.
The list of major winners also included Maverick City Music with four awards, and Brandi Carlile, Bonnie Raitt, Kirk Franklin, and Kendrick Lamar with three each. The 65th Annual Grammy Awards took place on February 5, with Trevor Noah returning to host for the third time.

]]>The R&B legend Blige is entering this year’s Grammys with six nominations, but she won’t be the only nominee performing at the show. Lizzo is in the running for five awards, while Bad Bunny scored three nods. They’re all competing for one of the ceremony’s main awards: album of the year.
The list of performers will also include Brandi Carlile, nominated for seven awards, and fellow nominees Steve Lacy and Luke Combs. Sam Smith and Kim Petras are scheduled to perform their song “Unholy”, which is in the running for the best pop duo/group performance. The Recording Academy is expected to announce the rest of the performers in the upcoming days.
The 65th Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5 with Trevor Noah returning as a host for the third time. The list of nominees is led by Beyoncé with nine nods, followed by Kendrick Lamar with eight, and Adele and Brandi Carlile with seven each.

]]>Beyoncé and Lamar are in pretty good company, with Adele, Harry Styles, and Brandi Carlile both in the running for seven Grammy Awards this time around. They’re closely followed by Mary J. Blige, Future, and record producer The-Dream with six nods each.
Beyoncé’s Renaissance and Lamar’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers are two of the albums in the running for album of the year. They’ll have to face tough competition in Adele’s 30, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, Lizzo’s Special, Harry Styles’ Harry’s House, and several more albums that this past year will be remembered by.
Many of these artists are also in consideration for song and record of the year. The list of tracks nominated in both categories includes Adele’s “Easy on Me”, Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul”, Harry Styles’ “As It Was”, Lizzo’s “About Damn Time”, and Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5”.
The 65th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 5, 2023, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

]]>The post 2022 Grammy Awards: Jon Batiste and Silk Sonic Win Top Prizes appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Batiste was in the running for 11 trophies but only picked up one in the main field—album of the year for We Are. He also received two awards in the American Roots categories, picked up the trophy for the best music video for “Freedom”, and shared the Grammy for best score soundtrack for visual media for his work on Soul with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Silk Sonic’s triumph at the Grammys was far more impressive since they came into the night with just four nominations, and managed to win all of them. Their single “Leave the Door Open” won awards for record and song of the year, in addition to best R&B performance and best R&B song.
It was also a big night for Olivia Rodrigo, who won a total of three awards, including best new artist and best pop vocal album for Sour. The list of artists walking away with three awards also included D’Mile, Foo Fighters, Chris Stapleton, and CeCe Winans.
The 64th Annual Grammy Awards took place on April 3 in Las Vegas with Trevor Noah serving as a host.

]]>Eilish and Rodrigo are both in the running for seven awards, including album, record, and song of the year. The first round of announced performers also includes Brothers Osborne, Brandi Carlile, and Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow. Carlile and Lil Nas X are in the running for five awards, including the record of the year, while Brothers Osborne and Harlow received two nominations each.
The 2022 Grammy Awards are set to take place on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, with Trevor Noah returning as the host.

]]>SZA’s SOS will be one of the albums in the running for the coveted albums of the year award, along with Taylor Swift’s Midnights, Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts, Janelle Monáe’s The Age of Pleasure, Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation, Lana Del Rey’s Ocean Blvd, Boygenius’s The Record, and Jon Batiste’s World Music Radio.
In addition to SZA with nine nods and Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and Serban Ghenea with seven each, Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, Brandy Clark, Boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift will also be major contenders with six nominations each.
The 66th Annual Grammy Awards will take place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 4, 2024, and the Recording Academy is yet to announce the ceremony’s host.

]]>The post Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar Top the 2023 Grammy Awards Nominations appeared first on EverydayKoala.

Eilish owes her nominations to her recent album Happier Than Ever and the single of the same name, while Rodrigo is competing with her debut album Sour and the breakout single “Drivers License”. BTS received a nod for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with “Butter”.
Jon Batiste topped this year’s list of nominations with a total of eleven nods and he’s closely followed by Doja Cat, H.E.R., and Justin Bieber with eight each.
