Submitting movies for the Golden Globes can be tricky because some projects transcend several different genres. In these cases, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association intervenes and according to Variety these films have been changed this year.

Minari

Just like The Farewell last year, this film will be competing in the foreign-language film category and won’t be eligible for the best picture award because it’s mostly filmed in Korean.

Promising Young Women

This revenge film starring Carey Mulligan walks the fine line between comedy and drama, but it will be competing in the drama categories at the upcoming Golden Globes.

Hamilton

Hamilton was accepted to compete in the comedy or musical categories, which came as a surprise to many because it’s only a live film recording of the stage version of the beloved musical.

One Night in Miami

According to Variety, all four stars of the Regina King directorial debut—Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge, and Leslie Odom Jr.—will be competing in the same category, either lead or supporting.

Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr. has shared a superb theory on his character, Aaron Burr.

The hit musical sold out countless shows on the West End and Broadway. Now, the musical is available to stream on Disney+, sparking up new conversations from fans.

Speaking with MSNBC, Odom Jr has shared his personal theory on Burr and the fact that he is the narrator of the story.

“I would think of it like purgatory, like Burr’s purgatory,” he explained. “He didn’t know what it was that he had to learn. So he’s gonna come out here tonight and tell the story one more time.”

“And if he could just figure out where it went wrong, if he could just find the moment where it went wrong. And he could say, ‘Ah, there it is. Here’s where I made the mistake. Here’s where I should have stopped it.’

“If he could just figure that thing out then he could move on.”

We don’t know about you, but for us, this theory changes everything. And on that note, we are heading over to Disney+ for another rewatch.

Fans rejoiced when Disney announced that a theatrical version of the uber-successful Tony-winning musical Hamilton will hit the screens next year, but now a point of concern has risen. The play uses some curses and used as is, a theatrical version will get an R rating. Disney, however, has a strict PG-13 policy. How will the studio reconcile this?

The New York Times reporter, Kyle Buchanan, wondered just that and decided to ask the musical’s creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, about it. Miranda tried to ease the worries.

“I think we’ll figure it out when we get there,” he said. “But we’re not going to cut any sections of the show. If we have to mute a word here or there to reach the largest audience possible, I’m OK with that, because your kids already have the original language memorized. I don’t think we’re depriving anyone of anything if we mute an f-bomb here or there to make our rating.”

It should be noted that the musical already censors an f-bomb in one of the songs – but it does it for comedic effect. Another song sees Hamilton stopping a curse mid-word. So it remains to be seen what Disney will cut out in the end.

The filmed performance of the original cast at The Richard Rogers Theatre in New York will hit theaters on October 15th, 2021.

The Duke and Duchess sat with Lin-Manuel in the audience.

And after the performance, those in attendance were treated to an even more special privilege — Prince Harry singing!

The Prince took to the stage and sang a few bars from You’ll Be Back before addressing the audience.

Well, he’s young, scrappy, and hungry, and he didn’t throw away his shot!
