The streaming network has released an announcement for a forthcoming documentary about Beyoncé’s performance at Coachella.

The Drunk In Love singer headlined the renowned music festival in 2018, becoming the first African-American woman to do so.

The last few months have been massive for the Grammy award winner, having toured around the world with her husband Jay Z, the pair being honored by GLAAD for their support of the LGBTQ+ community, and Bey being named as the NAACP Entertainer of the Year.

The teaser from Netflix shows a simple yellow backdrop with the name Homecoming, as well as a release date.

A day after the first announcement, a trailer for the promising documentary was released.

The title derives from the name of Beyoncé’s Homecoming Scholars Awards Program which provides scholarships to students attending HBCUs. The announcement of the initiative coincided with her Coachella performance.

The documentary’s release rate of April 17 will also coincide with the second weekend of the 2019 edition of the music festival.

Homecoming is a TV adaptation of a fictional podcast of the same name, created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg. Sam Esmail will serve as showrunner, director, and executive produce, so we’re sure Heidi’s story is in safe hands. It’s right up his alley since he already proved to be capable of creating a creepy atmosphere with Mr. Robot. Homecoming will premiere on November 2 on Amazon Video and it also stars Stephan James, Bobby Cannavale, and Shea Whigham.
