]]>In an official statement announcing the end of Insecure, the actress and creator of this show said she feels “blessed beyond measure” to bring the characters’ stories to an end and thanked HBO for their support over the years.
“Prentice and I are so grateful that HBO believed in our show from the beginning and kept faith in us to see our vision through the end. We always planned to tell this story through five seasons, but we couldn’t have made it this far without the tremendous support of our audience,” stated Rae.
Insecure follows the adventures of a modern-day African-American woman, as she tries to navigate life, love, and friendship in Los Angeles. In addition to Rae, it also stars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Lisa Joyce, Natasha Rothwell, and Amanda Seales. Since its premiere in 2016, the show was met with critical acclaim and received numerous award nominations.

]]>Multiple outlets confirm that HBO has renewed Insecure for a fifth season.
The premium cabler announced the renewal three weeks after season four premiered. The current season debuted in April, and at the time of the announcement aired three episodes out of ten.
Rae heads the ensemble cast of the series based on her web series Awkward Black Girl. The cast includes Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, and Alexander Hodge.
“We’re thrilled that Issa, Prentice, and the whole Insecure team will be getting back together for a fifth season,” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming. “As we laugh and cringe with recognition, their stories make us all feel a little less alone in the world.”
