HBO Renews “Insecure” for 5th Season

Yvonne Orji and Issa Rae in "Insecure"

The Issa Rae-created comedy will be back for another season.

Multiple outlets confirm that HBO has renewed Insecure for a fifth season.

The premium cabler announced the renewal three weeks after season four premiered. The current season debuted in April, and at the time of the announcement aired three episodes out of ten.

Rae heads the ensemble cast of the series based on her web series Awkward Black Girl. The cast includes Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, and Alexander Hodge.

“We’re thrilled that Issa, Prentice, and the whole Insecure team will be getting back together for a fifth season,” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming. “As we laugh and cringe with recognition, their stories make us all feel a little less alone in the world.”
