While promoting his new movie Doolittle on BBC radio 1, the actor said he would have liked to have a go playing Clint Barton A.K.A. Hawkeye – the S.H.I.E.L.D. archer turned Avenger which Jeremy Renner played on 4 MCU movies.

“I can’t think of any red-blooded American boy that didn’t imagine themselves as Spider-Man growing up,” Downey said. “However, looking back on it now — also because I’m just such a Jeremy Renner fan, and he made it so cool, particularly when he turns into Ronin [in Endgame] — I would say Hawkeye would be my go-to.”

Downey also quenched any hope Iron Man will return. “To me, starting up again is off the table. I feel like I’ve done all I could with that character,” he recently said. “I wanna do other stuff.”

An Italian artist named Daniele Basso created a statue of the superhero posing in his iconic landing posture from the first movie. The statue now stands on a marble pedestal in Forte de Marmi.

The statue contains an inscription that says: “The first monument dedicated to Iron Man in the year of his cinematographic death celebrates Tony Stark, the man who used his great wealth to fight for the ideals in which he believed. Reminding us that we are the protagonists of our era. That the future of humanity depends on our decisions … that all of us must be heroes!”

Basso told SYFY wire that he likes the stark character because of its imperfection. “he was not always right but he used all his influence and power to help others.” According to Basso the reason that he chose to commemorate a fictional character is that “Superheroes talk to the child we always have in our souls. They remember us the sense and the meaning to do the right thing.”

The Oscar-winning actress announced her departure in a recent cover story with Variety. Endgame will be her last movie in the MCU, but she’s grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this project that turned into worldwide phenomenon.

“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point. I feel very lucky that I did it because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to fans,” said Gwyneth Paltrow.

She is still open to the possibility of appearing in one of the future films in a lesser capacity, and if MCU bosses ever asked her to make a cameo or show up in flashbacks, she would be happy to jump on board.

As Iron Man, the 53-year-old commandeers The Avengers, but his own origin story — which was the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — is turning 10 years old in 2018.

The 2008 film famously ends with Robert’s character, Tony Stark, revealing during a press conference: “I am Iron Man.”

According to the producer, Kevin Feige, that lone wasn’t planned!

“That success inspired us to go further in the trusting ourselves to find balance of staying true to the comics and the spirit of the comics but not being afraid to adapt and evolve and to change things,” Feige told Deadline in reference to the fact that Stark only reveals his alter-ego much later on in the comic books.

“It’s a fine line,” Feige continued. “If you’re changing something for no reason, that’s one thing, but if you’re changing something because you want to double-down on the spirit of who the character is? That’s a change we’ll make. Tony Stark not reading off the card and not sticking with the fixed story? Him just blurting out ‘I am Iron Man?’ That seems very much in keeping with who that character is.”
