]]>Parrish, who’s best known for his role on Showtime’s Weeds, has been tapped to star as Jane the Novela’s male lead opposite Jacqueline Grace Lopez.
Jane the Novela focuses on Lopez’s character Estela, an art curator who finds out a shocking secret that changes everything and forces her to live a double life. The first installment is set in a Napa Valley vineyard, where Parrish will play Felix, the rich kid who co-owns the vineyard with his mother Renata (Marcia Cross). Per the character’s official description, Felix “is Napa’s most eligible bachelor and heir apparent to his family’s winery. But though Felix’s future looks bright, he is tortured by the secrets of his past.”
The spinoff hails from Jane creator Jennie Snyder Urman and star Gina Rodriguez. Penning the script is Jane scribe
Parrish’s other credits include roles on This Is Us, The Good Wife, Quantico, Good Girls Revolt and The Following.

]]>Deadline reports that Marcia Cross landed a lead role in the highly anticipated spin-off pilot to The CW’s Jane the Virgin titled Jane the Novela.
According to the outlet, Cross, who best known for playing Bree on Desperate Housewives, will play Renata, Felix’s manipulative and glamorous mother, who will stop at nothing to secure her son’s legacy, even if it means standing in the way of his happiness.
The spin-off hails from Jane creator and executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman, original seres star Gina Rodriguez,and exec producers Ben Silverman and director Brad Silberling. Silberling will direct from a script penned by Jane writer, Valentina Garza.
The series is described as a telenovela anthology series in which each season is based on a different fictional novel “written by” Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) and narrated by the author herself. The first installment takes place at a Napa Valley Vineyard, where family secrets (and family members) don’t stay buried for long.
The fifth and final season of Jane the Virgin debuts March 27.

As mentioned, Gina Rodriguez will not be the lead in Jane the Novella, but Jacqueline Grace Lopez will.
The East Los High actress will star in the anthology series which will be written by Jane screenwriter Valentina Garza and directed by Brad Silberling.
Each season of the new show will focus on one of the characters in the novella, with the first centring on an up-and-coming curator, played by Lopez, whose safe — it not boring — life is turned on its head when family secrets are revealed.
But don’t worry, Jane Villanueva fans — Rodriguez will narrate the series.

The Riverdale spin-off titled Katy Keene, will follow the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters, including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene, as they chase their dreams in NYC. The musical dramedy comes from writers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi.
News of a Jane the Virgin spin-off was confirmed by star Gina Rodriguez who stars as Jane Villanueva in the original series. Rodriguez took to Instagram Wednesday to announce that the network has officially given the green light to a new series titled Jane the Novela.
“We got good news from the CW! Jane will be birthing a SPIN OFF!!!!! Jane The Novelas!!!” Rodriguez wrote alongside her sweet pic of herself and her son Mateo.
Jane the Novela, is an anthology series in the tradition of Jane the Virgin. Each season will be based on a different fictional novel penned by Jane Villanueva (Rodriguez) and narrated by the author.
The network’s pilot list also includes The Lost Boys in addition to the previously ordered Batwoman pilot.
