Deadline exclusively reported that Jordan is working closely with Amazon to develop various Creed-related projects, potentially spanning both film and TV. These projects are still in exploratory stages, but Amazon is reportedly getting more serious about them in the wake of Creed III’s big debut.

MGM is already plotting a new Creed spinoff Drago, written by Robert Lawton, but there’s a lot of chatter about a few more projects. According to Deadline, Amazon is also eying an anime and live-action series connected to the Rocky spinoff, and a potential project centering on Adonis Creed’s daughter Amara, played by Mila Davis-Kent in Creed III.

The original Creed itself is a spin-off of the Rocky film series, and it shifts focus to the son of Apollo Creed, Rocky Balboa’s former rival turned friend. The Stefano Sollima-directed action-thriller is based on  Tom Clancy’s 1993 novel and it has Jordan as an elite Navy SEAL named Sr. Chief John Kelly. After a squad of Russian soldiers kills his family, Kelly takes revenge on the assassins. While doing so, he uncovers an international conspiracy that could result in an war between Russia and the U.S.

“They took everything from me,” Jordan’s character says in the trailer. “I’m gonna make it right.”

In addition to Jordan, the cast includes Jodie Turner-Smith, Jamie Bell, Lauren London, Brett Gelman, Jacob Scipio, Jack Kesy, Colman Domingo, Todd Lassance, Cam Gigandet, Luke Mitchell, and Guy Pearce.

The film is written by Taylor Sheridan and Will Staples and produced by Akiva Goldsman, Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, and Jordan. Without Remorse was supposed to premiere for Paramount on September 18, 2020 before getting pushed back to October 2, 2020. The new premiere date is April 30, 2021 on Amazon Prime.

Creed star Tessa Thompson confirmed the news during an interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, “He is directing the next Creed,” adding that she’ll be using Jordan’s status as People’s Sexiest Man Alive against him. “It’s going to be ammo, I think, for me when he is engaging with me as a director. I’m just going to tell him to dial down the sexiness.”

“What’s so interesting, I think, is that there’s this enduring thing with [the franchise] being about the underdog,” Thompson told EW of the Rocky and Creed series. “I feel like, in each of the movies, there’s always someone behind the lens or in front of the camera that has something to prove just like the central character of the film. That’s sort of embedded into the DNA of the movie and is something that resonates with audiences.”

Creed III is set to start filing in 2021. It’s still unclear is Rocky Balboa’s Sylvester Stallone will be joining the film. Stallone stared in all eight films and directed four instalments.

Multiple outlets report that Paramount Pictures has removed Without Remorse from the 2021 theatrical release schedule.

Without Remorse, the big-screen adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel of the same name, was due to be released on February 26, 2021. It was originally scheduled to premiere on October 2, 2020, but was pushed back due to the pandemic. The slot is set to be filled with the untitled Billie Holiday biopic, directed by Lee Daniels. 

But there’s more—it is also reported that the studio is negotiating a deal to sell Without Remorse to Amazon Studios. 

According to the official synopsis, Without Remorse follows “John Kelly, a Navy SEAL who avenges his wife’s murder by brutal drug gangsters in Baltimore only to find himself inside a larger conspiracy.”

The film stars Brett Gelman, Jodie Turner-Smith, Jamie Bell, Jacob Scipio, Jack Kesy, Todd Lasance, Luke Mitchell, and Cam Gigandet.

It was revealed that Jordan has officially boarded the movie adaptation of the comic book. He’ll produce the pic through his Warner Bros-based Outlier Society banner. Jordan confirmed the news with a very low-key tweet.

The comic’s titular character is a teen who transforms into a superhero with electromagnetic powers.

“I’m proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around Black superheroes; our community deserves that,” Jordan said in a statement. “Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros. on this initial step.”

CinemaCon 2020 will take place between March 30th and April 2nd at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Jordan will receive his trophy at the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards, taking place on the closing night.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Creed 3 will be scripted by Zach Baylin – the writer behind the upcoming Will Smith movie King Richard. The movie will continue the story of Adonis Creed, played by Jordan, but the exact plot is still unknown.

Baylin’s recent script for King Richard deals with the father of Serena and Venus Williams, two of the greatest female tennis players in the world. Smith will star as Richard Williams and produce the movie under his Overbrook banner.

The previous two movies in the Creed series were a commercial success. The first movie grossed $173 million worldwide in 2015. It was written and directed by Ryan Coogler. Creed 2 was released in 2018 and was directed by Steven Caple Jr. and written by Juel Taylor and Sylvester Stallone. It grossed $214 million worldwide.

The iconic character has been rebooted two different times in the last 13 years once with Brandon Routh in Superman Returns and later with Henry Cavill in Man of Steel, but DC Films are still looking to revive the character and make it relevant to modern audiences — in comes a high-profile talent to star as the iconic character. 

According to the outlet, it was Jordan himself who pitched an idea for a new take on the Man of Steel to Warner Bros. earlier this year. But even if things go forward, we won’t get to see Jordan as the caped superhero anytime before 2023. 

There’s no word on a script or director attached to the pitch.
