Many high-profile award ceremonies went virtual in the last few months, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will follow suit. The class of 2020 won’t celebrate their induction with a live show but instead will be honored with an HBO special instead.

The induction ceremony was previously moved from May 2nd to November 7th due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but the organizers eventually decided to bring it back in a different form.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said that they decided to avoid scheduling a live ceremony this year in an attempt to protect the health and safety of everyone involved.

“Together with HBO and executive producer Joel Gallen, we will still create an exciting program honoring our 2020 inductees, by telling the stories of their incredible contributions to music and impact on a generation of artists that followed them,” stated Sykes.

The list of this year’s inductees includes Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, T-Rex, and The Notorious B.I.G.

The list of inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in, and we finally know who made the cut. The list of artists bestowed with this prestigious honor includes Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, The Notorious BIG, T. Rex, and The Doobie Brothers.

Depeche Mode and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails released official statements saying how excited they are about the induction, while Michael McDonald of The Doobie Brothers took a moment to praise his fellow inductees and incredible work they bring to the table.

“Each of those bands has helped shape the form that rock & roll has taken over the years. That’s what I like to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame do: pick those bands that have sculpted what we see rock & roll as today,” he told Rolling Stone.

The list of artists who were all on the ballot, but didn’t make the cut this year also included Dave Matthews Band, Judas Priest, and Motörhead. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at Cleveland’s Public Hall on May 2nd, and it will be the first one ever to be broadcasted live on HBO.

Nine Inch Nails announce new music and world tour for 2020.

Since the band’s last album Bad Witch in 2018, Nine Inch Nails has been on a bit of a hiatus. Trent Reznor has kept himself busy with soundtrack work alongside bandmate Atticus Ross. The pair contributed to the 2019 TV adaptation of the graphic novel Watchmen and produced three albums out of the project.

According to a recent interview with Revolver, it seems like the hiatus is about to come to an end. The interview promises that not only is new music coming in 2020, but Nine Inch Nails are planning on doing an extensive tour.

In the interview, Reznor and Ross tease: “Nine Inch Nails is not forgotten. In 2020, Reznor and Ross plan to take the group back out on tour, as well as record new NIN music.”

Unfortunately, the pair didn’t really share any details other than that. Still, it seems to be set in stone that new music from Nine Inch Nails is on the way, and that’s enough for now.

Nine Inch Nails have shared their new song ‘God Break Down The Door’ from their brand new album ‘Bad Witch.’

The new track features a manic drumbeat and some mysterious saxophone sounds, which is a new shade for the group.

Speaking to Zane Lowe, Trent Reznor from NIN said: “We find if we don’t watch ourselves we tend to try to get some more comfortable with because it feels better. And from the sound of the drums to the kind of frantic drumbeat to looking around the studio and seeing the untouched baritone tenor and alto sax that are sitting there. They’re there because they remind me that I can’t play them as well as I used to be able to.”

“For 20 years, I’ve been saying I’m going of really get my technique back because it would be fun to do. And there they sit taunting me in the corner. We pulled them out and we just started f**king around really, led with Atticus arranging. I was just kind of going, an hour performance kind of turned into this thing that felt like we hadn’t been there before and that started to reveal a whole different character. The space changed and then we felt motivated. When it came time to sing I was really just trying things out, just to see. I never had the courage to sing like that, I didn’t know I could sing.”

The album will be released June 22. Have a look at the full tracklist below:

1 ‘S**t Mirror’
2 ‘Ahead of Ourselves’
3 ‘Play the Goddamned Part’
4 ‘God Break Down the Door’
5 ‘I’m Not From This World’
6 ‘Over and Out’
