]]>“It’s genuinely quite stressful,” Coleman quipped when she got up on stage, tears already streaming down her face. “This is hilarious. I got an Oscar!”
“I have to thank lots of people,” she said, totally overwhelmed by her win. “If, by the way, I forget anybody, I’m going to give you all a massive snog and I’m really sorry if I might forget now.”
She goes onto thank The Favourite team, giving special thanks to her co-stars Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz whom she describes as “the loveliest women in the world.” She then thanks her agent, Lindy King, who took her on over 20 years ago. She may have started out as a side character on Peep Show but now she is a fully acclaimed Oscar nominee and winner.
She then thanks her mom, dad, her kids at home watching and added: “Any little girl who’s practising their speech on the telly, you never know. I used to work as a cleaner and I loved that job but I did spent quite a lot of time imagining.”
When given the signal to wrap things up, she charmingly blew a raspberry and continued to thank her husband, the cast, crew and gave a shout out to Lady Gaga. It was a babbling ramble but it was easily the most charming speech of the night.

]]>Hart couldn’t contain his excitement after discovering he’s about to fulfill his lifelong dream and immediately shared the amazing news with the rest of the world. He described this gig as “an opportunity of a lifetime” and thanked everyone who was by his side every step of the way.
“I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars. I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time… To be able to join the legendary list of host that have graced that stage is unbelievable. I know my mom is smiling from ear to ear right now,” wrote Hart.
It’s amazing to see how enthusiastic Hart is about taking on the hosting duties since it was rumored that the Academy struggled to find someone suitable for the job this year. Viewership hit an all-time low last year with Jimmy Kimmel, and the host is usually the one expected to boost the ratings. Let’s hope Kevin Hart is up to the challenge and proves as an amazing host on February 24, 2019.
I was asked the most amazing question from my kids today on the phone….they said "Dad why don't you get mad when people talk about you on the internet" …my answer was "I never see that stuff because I'm to busy being happy & loving you 2"

]]>As we approach the 91st version of the Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided to recognize the public by making some changes to its broadcast.
Come the 24th of February 2019, the Oscars ceremony will be shorter than before as not all awards will be given out live.
As part of its commitment to keep the broadcast to 3 hours, the board of governors has agreed to award some statuettes during commercial breaks and then air an edited version later on during the show.
Another huge announcement is that of Oscar’s new, exciting category — Outstanding Achievement in Popular Film. The addition is likely to open up nominations for blockbuster films which are often overlooked in favor of more artistic fodder (Did someone say Black Panther?).
But not everyone is pleased with the decision… Code Black actor, Rob Lowe, signaled it as the death of the film industry:
The film business passed away today with the announcement of the “popular” film Oscar. It had been in poor health for a number of years. It is survived by sequels, tent-poles, and vertical integration.
— Rob Lowe (@RobLowe) August 8, 2018
While the author of Five Came Back, Mark Harris, pointed out the irony of the Academy’s decision:
It truly is something that in the year Black Panther, a movie made just about entirely by and with black people, grosses $700 million, the Academy's reaction is, "We need to invent something separate…but equal."

No announcement has been made as yet regarding a host for next year’s show, but we’re sure he or she will be glad that it is shorter!
