]]>This adaptation hails from Sonia Friedman Productions, Studiocanal, and Eliza Lumley Productions and draws inspiration from Michael Bond’s beloved Paddington book series.
Friedman and Lumley said that the magic of Paddington is that he sees the very best in humanity, and added it’s a privilege to create a new musical about this beloved little bear.
“We cannot wait to bring Paddington, his antics, adventures, and mishaps with the Brown family, and Michael Bond’s other treasured characters to the stage. We hope to inspire audiences of all ages with fun, beauty, joy, and all that Paddington stands for,” said the duo in a statement.
McFly’s Tom Fletcher will be in charge of writing music and lyrics for the stage adaptation. He’s the author of several children’s books, in addition to writing music for everyone from One Direction to 5 Seconds of Summer.
Michael Bond’s Paddington books already inspired an acclaimed film series, with Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington. The third film in the franchise is in the works, and it’s set for January 17, 2025 release date.

]]>Six years after Paddington 2, the third movie in the franchise is officially happening, and the production is set to kick off on July 24. It will see our favorite bear getting into sticky situations in “deepest, darkest Peru”, his country of birth.
The third film will experience a changing of the guard, with the director Paul King stepping down and letting Dougal Wilson take over the reins in his feature film debut.
“As a huge fan of the first two films, I am very excited (if not a little intimidated) to be continuing the story of Paddington. It’s a massive responsibility, but all my efforts will be focused on making a third film that honors the love so many people have for this very special bear,” said Wilson in a statement.
The cast of the film is yet to be announced, but it’s safe to expect Ben Whishaw will return as the voice of Paddington. The cast of the first two films also included Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Brendan Gleeson, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, Nicole Kidman, and Hugh Grant.

]]>Festivities have been taking place throughout the United Kingdom over the last few days as Britain celebrates 70 years since Queen Elizabeth II took to the throne.
The Queen was just 25 when her father, King George VI, passed away, resulting in her becoming the reigning monarch. Seven decades later, she has become the only British royal in history to commemorate a Platinum Jubilee.
Ahead of the star-studded concert on Saturday evening, Her Majesty appeared in a pre-recorded clip with another much-loved icon as the pair sat down to tea in Buckingham Palace.
“Perhaps you would like a marmalade sandwich,” says Paddington Bear before pulling said snack out of his hat. “I always keep one for emergencies.”
“So do I,” responds the 96-year-old Queen. She then reaches into her handbag. “I keep mine in here. For later.”
The Queen did not attend the Party at the Palace, but the royal family was indeed represented. Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children were amongst the 20,000 people who watched Adam Lambert and Queen (naturally), Sir Elton John, and Alicia Keys rocking out in front of the Palace.
The event also included performances by the London casts of famous musicals such as Hamilton, The Phantom Of The Opera, The Lion King, Six, and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.
We hope everyone remembered to pack a marmalade sandwich or two.

]]>Variety broke the news after coming into contact with representatives from Studiocanal, who released the following statement: “We can confirm Studiocanal is working very hard on film 3 with the utmost craft and care – as with film 1 and 2.”
This news comes shortly after one of the movie’s stars, Hugh Bonneville, confirmed that the next movie was “somewhere on the horizon” during a recent interview on BBC.
The cast of the previous two movies also included Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, and Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington. Their return is yet to be confirmed, but director Paul King isn’t expected to make a comeback, because he’ll be busy directing the upcoming movie about the young Willy Wonka.
“At some point, you just have to stop. It might be time for somebody else to do a twist on it. I’m trying not to do a third bear movie, which is a huge, huge mistake,” King previously told Empire.
The first Paddington movie premiered in 2014, and it was followed by a critically acclaimed sequel in 2017 and the animated series The Adventures of Paddington.
