Hang on to your hats and grab a jar of marmalade because we have some good news for all the fans of Paddington. Everyone’s favorite animated bear is officially returning for a third movie!

Variety broke the news after coming into contact with representatives from Studiocanal, who released the following statement: “We can confirm Studiocanal is working very hard on film 3 with the utmost craft and care – as with film 1 and 2.”

This news comes shortly after one of the movie’s stars, Hugh Bonneville, confirmed that the next movie was “somewhere on the horizon” during a recent interview on BBC.

The cast of the previous two movies also included Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, and Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington. Their return is yet to be confirmed, but director Paul King isn’t expected to make a comeback, because he’ll be busy directing the upcoming movie about the young Willy Wonka.

“At some point, you just have to stop. It might be time for somebody else to do a twist on it. I’m trying not to do a third bear movie, which is a huge, huge mistake,” King previously told Empire.

The first Paddington movie premiered in 2014, and it was followed by a critically acclaimed sequel in 2017 and the animated series The Adventures of Paddington.
