]]>For eight years, the New Jersey native played Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones. The iconic role earned him an Emmy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award.
Dinklage is now set to feature in another book-to-screen adaptation as he has been cast in the forthcoming prequel to The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was announced back in April 2020, and will be in theatres on November 17, 2023.
The film will focus on Coriolanus Snow as an 18-year-old boy, long before he becomes the tyrannical President of Panem. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, Snow is tasked with mentoring Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12, whose decision to sing during the reaping ceremony makes Snow believe he can turn the tide in their favor.
Dinklage has been cast as Casca Highbottom, the Dean of the academy, and one of the most powerful people in Snow’s life. “As the austere and vindictive face of the games, he sets the rules that will determine every aspect of Coriolanus’s fate. I’m thrilled that Peter will be bringing him to life,” said director Francis Lawrence who helmed the last three movies in the Hunger Games franchise.
Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler have already been cast as Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray Baird, respectively.

]]>No. That’s why we’re glad we have Peter Dinklage to divulge just what is going through the brain of the Hand to the Queen half the time.
We know that Tyrion is brilliant at strategizing and calculating, but when it comes to emotional situations, he is less adept.
So just what was going through the mind of the youngest Lannister when he spotted Daenerys and Jon Snow getting it on during the season 7 finale of Game of Thrones?
“Ah, it’s complicated…” Peter told Entertainment Weekly. “A lot of the time with Tyrion, it’s professional and personal. Obviously, he has feelings for Daenerys. He loves her — or thinks he does. She’s awe-inspiring. He’s questioning that because he doesn’t have a good track record for falling in love. There’s jealousy wrapped up in there.”
And, on top of that, he’s known Jon a really long time, going back to their shared time at Castle Black.
“He loves Jon Snow, too. They’re the two people he has the most in common with, in a way — they’re both outsiders in their own families who have refused to follow the path their family has taken, and hopefully for the better. He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Dany getting romantically involved is], because passion and politics don’t mix well. He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous.”
Things are definitely likely to get more complicated when the final season of GOT airs in 2019.
