Plot details about this untitled project are being kept under wraps, but Deadline revealed it will have a contemporary setting and described it as Anderson’s most commercial project yet. Production will kick off later this year in California, and Anderson himself wrote the script and is tapped to produce, alongside Sara Murphy and Adam Somner.

DiCaprio, Hall, and Penn landed lead roles, but this project will reportedly have a big ensemble cast, that is yet to fall into place. This is right up Anderson’s alley since some of his best early films also featured large ensembles, including Boogie Nights and Magnolia.

Anderson’s next film marks DiCaprio’s first role since he reunited with his frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese on Killers of the Flower Moon last year. Penn starred in several films throughout 2023, including Black Flies, Daddio, and Gonzo Girl, while Hall hasn’t appeared in any new movies since Netflix’s buddy comedy Me Time in 2022.

According to its official logline, Me Time centers on a stay-at-home dad (Hart) who finds himself with some “me time” for the first time in years while his wife and kids are away. He reconnects with his former best friend (Wahlberg) for a wild weekend that nearly upends his life.

This marks the first collaboration between Hart and Wahlberg, and they had a blast working on this project. Hart posted a behind-the-scenes photo back in September and described his co-star as “funny as hell”, adding their chemistry on set was exactly what he thought it would be.

Hart signed a first-look deal with Netflix in 2021 and went on to star in the films Fatherhood and The Man from Toronto. Wahlberg is also a Netflix veteran and he previously starred in the streamer’s hit action-comedy Spenser Confidential.

In addition to Hart and Wahlberg, Me Time also stars Regina Hall, Jimmy O. Yang, and Luis Gerardo Méndez. It’s set to premiere on Netflix on August 26.

Kidman’s latest TV show is an adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel of the same name. In addition to Moriarty, this project will see her joining forces with David E. Kelley, who previously served as the creator and producer of her shows Big Little Lies and The Undoing.

Nine Perfect Strangers follows a group of people who attend an exclusive 10-day wellness experience called “mind and body total transformation retreat”. Shortly after arriving at the seemingly perfect resort, they start to discover more about its true nature and the mysterious woman who runs it.

In addition to Kidman, the star studded cast of this project also includes Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, and Samara Weaving. The filming of Nine Perfect Strangers wrapped up in Australia last December, but Hulu is yet to share its official release date.

To make the whole thing even better, Breaking News in Yuba County will also star Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians), Samira Wiley (Orange Is the New Black), Juliette Lewis (August: Osage County), Ellen Barkin (Animal Kingdom) and Wanda Sykes (Bad Moms).

This intriguing dramedy will be directed by Tate Taylor, and it’s scheduled to start shooting in Mississippi next month.

Relative newcomer Jessie Usher takes on the role of JJ Shaft Jr., an FBI agent and a cybersecurity expert, who turns to his estranged father after his friend’s death. This unlikely duo navigates the Harlem underworld in their attempt to solve the crime, and the first generation John Shaft ends up joining them along the way.

This exciting reboot will hit the theaters on June 14 and it will also star Regina Hall, Alexandra Shipp, Avan Jogia and Method Man.
