According to Amazon Prime Video’s official synopsis, Mr. & Mrs. Smith will center on two strangers, John and Jane, who have given up their identities to be thrown together as partners—in espionage and in marriage—after being matched by a mysterious agency.

Donald Glover, who co-created the series alongside Francesca Sloane, will play one of the lead roles alongside Maya Erskine. Michaela Coel, John Turturro, and Paul Dano were cast in guest roles back in June, with Parker Posey and Wagner Moura joining them in September.

The star-studded ensemble of this project just got even more impressive, after several A-list stars agreed to hop on board. Alexander Skarsgard (Big Little Lies), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Sarah Paulson (American Crime Story), Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Billy Campbell (Cardinal), and Ursula Corbero (Money Heist) will also star.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith will feature a total of eight episodes, set to be released on Amazon Prime Video on February 2, 2024.

Karrie Crouse wrote the script for this project, and she’s directing it alongside Will Joines. The filming is set to kick off in August, while the project is expected to stream on Disney’s DTC platforms as a Hulu Original, with additional release plans yet to be announced.

Searchlight presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield described Paulson as “an extraordinary artist” and said they’re thrilled to be working with her again. She previously collaborated with Searchlight on Sean Durkin’s Martha Marcy May Marlene and Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave.

Paulson is currently in the running for an Emmy award for her role in Impeachment: American Crime Story, and she’s attached to several more exciting projects. She was recently cast in Clybourne Park, Bruce Norris’ film adaptation of his Pulitzer, Tony, and Olivier award-winning play.

Ratched will tell the iconic villain from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’s story. The trailer shows Mildred Ratched moving to North Carolina to start her job at a leading psychiatric hospital. On the outside, she looks put together, but the ominous cinematography and music tell a different story.

“You have been subjected to enough pain, but you deserve someone to show you mercy,” she says to a patient in the trailer. “How different I would be if someone had.”

The series, which will be two seasons and 18 episodes, will show how Mildred starts as an average nurse and transforms into the villain from Ken Kesey’s novel and the subsequent film. Mildred conducts experiments at the hospital, which shows that people aren’t born evil, but they can become monsters.

Ratched is created by  Evan Romansky and executive produced by Ian Brennan and Ryan Murphy. Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis, Sharon Stone, Jon Jon Briones, Finn Wittrock, Charlie Carver, Alice Englert, Amanda Plummer, Corey Stoll, Sophie Okonedo, Brandon Flynn, and Vincent D’Onofrio also star in the series.

Ratched is set in 1947 Northern California, 15 years before the film took place, where Mildred Ratched (Sarah Paulson) lands a job as a nurse at a psychiatric hospital. We’ll see the nurse’s first days on the job and how she navigates the mental healthcare system. The series will show her journey to becoming a head nurse and the villain of Ken Kessey’s 1962 novel.

Entertainment Weekly confirms that franchise star Sarah Paulson is set to return for the tenth installment of the franchise. 

The actress confirmed her return to the forthcoming season of FX’s acclaimed series during the Television Critics Association press tour on Thursday. 

“I can confirm that I will be in next season,” Paulson said. “I have no idea what it will be… But I’m not coming back as a guest part, I will be a central character.”

News that Paulson will appear in AHS’ next season follows an announcement made by the network that the series has been renewed for three additional seasons, which means the series will run through to at least season 13.

Whether she’ll appear in any other seasons other than the tenth she said, “God willing, I have no idea. But I do know that I did ask Ryan, if the question was asked to me, could I say that I was coming back? And he said, ‘Yes, you can say.’ So yes, I will be back on American Horror Story.”
