Over the course of the past five decades, Saturday Night Live grew into one of the most beloved shows on American television, and Sony’s SNL 1975 will explore its origins. This highly-anticipated film finally found its Lorne Michaels in The Fabelmans star Gabriel LaBelle.

SNL 1975 hails from screenwriters Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, and it will trace the origins of one of the most popular sketch comedy shows in history. It will be set on set on October 11, 1975, the night of the very first Saturday Night Live broadcast.

According to its official logline, SNL 1975 will center on a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers who changed television forever. It will retell the chaos and magic of a TV revolution, counting down the minutes to the infamous words, “Live From New York, it’s Saturday Night.”

Gabriel LaBelle will lead the film in the role of the SNL co-creator and long-time producer Lorne Michaels, who’s still running this show almost 50 years later. Rachel Sennott (Bottoms) will join him in the role of Rosie Shuster, while Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza) will play Dick Ebersol.

In addition to co-writing the script, Reitman will also direct the film and produce it alongside Gil Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills, and Peter Rice.

Saturday Night Live went on a holiday break this weekend, but expectations for its return are already running high. Jacob Elordi has been chosen to host SNL’s first episode of 2024, with Reneé Rapp serving as the musical guest.

Elordi made a name for himself as the star of Euphoria and The Kissing Booth movies, but 2023 turned out to be the most transformative year of his career. He played Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla and starred alongside Barry Keoghan in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn.

Elordi will make his SNL debut on January 20, 2024, and he’ll be in pretty good company. Reneé Rapp, who’s playing Regina George in the upcoming musical remake of Mean Girls, will serve as the first musical guest of the new year.

Elordi will follow in the footsteps of fellow actors Pete Davidson, Timothée Chalamet, Jason Momoa, Emma Stone, and Adam Driver, who hosted the show since SNL returned for Season 49 this fall.

The final episode before the holiday break was hosted by the SNL alum Kate McKinnon on December 16. Billie Eilish, who wrote the song “What Was I Made For?” for McKinnon’s latest film Barbie, served as the musical guest, while its director Greta Gerwig made a cameo.

Saturday Night Live has only three episodes left until the end of the year, and they’re shaping up to be amazing. Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish will serve as musical guests before the popular sketch comedy show takes a holiday break.

Rodrigo, who made her SNL debut just two years ago, will hit the iconic stage again on December 9. She’ll be joined by the host Adam Driver, who’s currently doing promo for his film Ferrari, and it’s safe to expect she’ll perform two of the songs from her sophomore studio album Guts.

As for Billie Eilish, she’s fresh on the heels of the success of her Barbie song “What Was I Made For?”, which recently received Grammy nominations for the record and song of the year. To make the whole thing even better, she’ll take the SNL stage on December 16, alongside the SNL alum Kate McKinnon, who also starred in Barbie.

Before Rodrigo and Eilish grace the SNL stage later this month, the indie singer Noah Kahan will make his SNL debut on December 2 alongside Emma Stone, who recently starred in Poor Things and The Curse. He became an overnight sensation thanks to his hit song “Stick Season” and is currently in the running for the Grammy Award for best new artist.

The latest season of Saturday Night Live is in full swing, and they just landed another A-list host. Jason Momoa will be in charge of hosting an episode of the popular sketch comedy series ahead of the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom release, with musical guest Tate McRae.

Momoa previously hosted SNL in 2018, when the first Aquaman film came out, and he’s ready to give it another go. He’s been tapped to host the popular NBC show on November 18, with the Canadian singer Tate McRae serving as the musical guest, following the release of her hit song “Greedy”.

Momoa’s hosting spot comes ahead of the release of his upcoming superhero blockbuster Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, set to be released on December 22. Momoa has been pretty booked and busy throughout 2023, and we’ve also seen him play the main villain in Fast X, in addition to making a cameo as Aquaman in The Flash.

Momoa isn’t the first star of a major studio blockbuster to be announced as the SNL host amid the SAG-AFTRA strike. He’ll follow in the footsteps of the Wonka star Timothée Chalamet, who’ll host the show on November 11 with a musical guest Boygenius.

Timothée Chalamet is no stranger to the Saturday Night Live stage, and he’s getting ready to hit it again. The Oscar-nominated actor has been set as the next SNL host ahead of the release of his highly-anticipated movie Wonka.

Chalamet made his Saturday Night Live debut during Season 46 back in late 2020, as a part of his promo tour for Dune. He’ll hit the SNL stage again on November 11, when he’s set to serve as the host alongside the musical guest Boygenius, the indie supergroup formed by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus.

Saturday Night Live is now only three episodes into Season 49, and the list of previous hosts included comedians Pete Davidson and Nate Bargatze and Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, who pulled the double duty during his hosting debut. Ice Spice and Foo Fighters also appeared as musical guests.

Chalamet will soon play the titular character in Wonka and he’ll return as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Two next year, but it’s unclear if he’ll get to promote any of these projects on SNL. The SAG-AFTRA strike is not over yet, and he’s actually the first star with a major studio movie to host SNL since the start of the season.

Bad Bunny pulled double duty on Saturday Night Live this weekend, and he didn’t have to do it all on her own. His SNL hosting debut featured several amazing cameos, starting with The Last of Us actor Pedro Pascal joining him on stage during his opening monologue.

Pascal joined Bad Bunny to translate a portion of his monologue from Spanish to English. After firing a few sentences about his morning in New York, the Puerto Rican singer turned to Pascal for help, but the actor offered a joking translation, “He says, ‘I’m blessed to be here with my favorite actor Pedro Pascal.’”

This wasn’t Pascal’s only appearance during Bad Bunny’s SNL episode. The Mandalorian actor also reprised his role from his last season’s appearance on SNL in the hilarious sketch Protective Mom 2, in addition to introducing the singer ahead of his “Monaco” performance.

Lady Gaga also made a cameo and did an intro for Bad Bunny’s performance of “Un Preview”. The biggest shocker was seeing The Rolling Stones’ frontman make a cameo in sketches Telenovela and Convent Meeting, marking his first appearance on SNL since 1986.

The next episode of SNL will be hosted by the comedian Nate Bargatze, with Foo Fighters serving as musical guests.

There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding Saturday Night Live even after the WGA strike ended, but we finally know what the future holds for this iconic sketch comedy. SNL will be back in business with the full cast this fall, with Pete Davidson and Bad Bunny serving as hosts.

Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, James Austin Johnson, and Sarah Sherman are all expected to return for another season. Chloe Troast, the close collaborator of SNL’s Please Don’t Destroy trio, will join the cast as a featured player.

The SNL veteran Pete Davidson will open the new season on October 14, with Ice Spice serving as a musical guest. He’ll be followed by the Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, who’ll pull double duty as both host and musical guest on October 21.

There have been some doubts about SNL’s return because the SAG-AFTRA strike still isn’t over, but this show has a full blessing from the union to return for Season 49.

“Our members appearing on Saturday Night Live either as hosts, guests, or cast members are working under the Network Code agreement, which is not a contract we are striking. They are not in violation of SAG-AFTRA strike rules, and we support them in fulfilling their contractual obligations,” read SAG-AFTRA’s official statement.

Pete Davidson left Saturday Night Live last year, and he’s getting ready to return to 30 Rock in style. He’ll come back to host the May 6 episode of the popular sketch comedy, after serving as one of its cast members for seven seasons.

Davidson will return to his old comic stomping grounds next month, and the musical guest for his episode is yet to be announced. He’s most likely coming back to promote his upcoming series Bupkis, which will premiere on May 4 on Peacock, with SNL creator Lorne Michaels serving as its producer.

Davidson’s return will be interesting to watch, considering he recently revealed it wasn’t always fun to see the show poking fun at his private life.

“I’ll be sitting in the back watching the cold open and topical political humor or whatever in the culture, and they’re making fun of you and you gotta walk out and do a sketch next and hit your mark [and] the show just made fun of you, so why [is the audience] going to laugh at you? They just dogged you,” said Davidson on Real Ones with Jon Bernthal.

In addition to leading Bupkis, Davidson will also star in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Dumb Money later this year.

March is going to be a pretty exciting month at 30 Rock since Saturday Night Live has a few amazing hosts lined up. Jenna Ortega and Travis Kelce will host a set of March episodes of the popular sketch comedy show, both making their hosting debuts.

Travis Kelce was picked as a host shortly after the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, and his involvement is a little bit difficult to wrap one’s head around. He’s not even the most popular member of his team, but we’ve seen several athletes host SNL in the past and do a fairly decent job. He’ll host the show on March 4, along with the musical guest Kelsea Ballerini.

Having Ortega host, on the other hand, makes perfect sense considering the enormous success of her Netflix series Wednesday and her role in the upcoming horror movie Scream VI. She’ll host the show on March 11 alongside the British indie rockers The 1975.

Ortega and Kelce will follow in the footsteps of Woody Harrelson, who’s hosting on February 25 with Jack White as a musical guest. He’s set to join SNL’s ever-growing five-timers club after previously hosting the show in 1989, 1992, 2014, and 2019, and he’ll be there to promote his upcoming HBO show White House Plumbers.

Some SNL fans raised eyebrows when Kim Kardashian was announced as one of the hosts of the upcoming season, but she proved to be quite funny during her hosting debut. The reality star’s SNL episode produced numerous hilarious sketches, but these three ended up stealing the show.

Opening Monologue

Kardashian got the audience on her side at the very start of the show with her brilliant opening monologue. She showed a willingness to poke fun at herself, but also fired shots at several members of her family, from her mom Kris Jenner to her ex-husband Kanye West.

The People’s Kourt

Kim kept throwing shade at her family in this sketch which saw her impersonating her older sister Kourtney. She’s shown overseeing disputes between members of her family, including Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner who made a cameo in this sketch.

The Dream Guy

If the previous skit isn’t star-studded enough for you, this one certainly will be. An obvious spoof of The Bachelorette, this sketch sees Kardashian looking for her dream guy, and some of her choices happen to be comedian Chris Rock, professional wrestler turned actor John Cena, Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford, and Grey’s Anatomy’s Jesse Williams.
