Mike Darnell, president of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, described The Ellen DeGeneres Show as “an indelible piece of the television landscape” and praised it for bringing comedy, joy, happiness, and comfort to millions of viewers over the years. “The Ellen Show started as the little program that could and became an absolute phenomenon. Over the years, it established itself as the premier destination for both superstars and incredible heartfelt human interest stories,” said Darnell in a statement.

Ellen DeGeneres also discussed the ending of the show in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The Emmy-winning host said she’s been considering the ending since Season 16, but signed up for three more seasons because affiliates and the station needed bigger commitment. “When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged—and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” explained DeGeneres.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show premiered in 2003 and went on to become one of the most popular daytime talk shows of the 21st century. As of 2020, it won a total of 61 Daytime Emmy Awards, surpassing the record held by The Oprah Winfrey Show.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as well as The Wendy Williams Show and Rachel Ray Show, are set to return to television with new episodes. The daytime hosts will film from home. 

“Since going into quarantine two weeks ago, I’ve been doing my show at home every day. But only for Portia. Starting Monday, you’ll be able to see it too, and I can’t wait,” said DeGeneres.

“I may not be in my purple chair, and it may not look the same but I’m very excited to get back to my Wendy Watchers … there’s so much uncertainty in all of our worlds right now and we need each other!” Williams said.

“This is a weird time, right? I can’t say there’s a silver lining; that’s just a wild exaggeration,” Ray said. “But there are found moments every day, and this is our found moment, for myself, John, and [our dog] Isaboo, that we get to share our home and some time with our viewers.”

The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Wendy Williams Show will return Monday, April 6.

After a very good 16 year run, host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, told her audience Wednesday that she has extended her talk show for three more years. This means that her talk show for Warner Bros. would continue its run through 2022.

“From the beginning, I said this show was going to be like a relationship,” DeGeneres told her audience. “We’ve been through the good, the bad, the Fifty Shades of Grey phase. It’s been a lot of fun and 16 years is a pretty good run. Sometimes in a relationship, you need to take a break. But I don’t. You’re stuck with me. I just signed for three more years.”

Cox, who played Monica Gellar on the show, came to Tuesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote her new Facebook Watch docuseries about pregnancy, Nine Months. 

Cox, who on Tuesday still hadn’t opened an Instagram account told DeGeneres that she’s planning on it to promote her new series. So DeGeneres, decided to help with a photoshoot on a fake Central Perk set so Cox would have something to post on. 

As the two sat down on the sofa and faked laughed their way through several clicks of the camera, DeGeneres said that it would be nice if Lisa Kudrow would have joined them and lo and behold — in walks Kudrow!

“I wanted to be there for you,” Kudrow told a surprised Cox.

“You’re here!” Cox said. “This is a shock.”

The Ellen DeGeneres Show might be coming to an end as DeGeneres says she changing her mind about extending her contract.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Ellen revealed that she thought twice before extending her contract through to 2020. The comedian got candid about consulting her brother and wife Portia De Rossi along the way.

“She gets mad when my brother tells me I can’t stop,” DeGeneres says of her wife, who said in return, “I just think she’s such a brilliant actress and standup that it doesn’t have to be this talk show for her creativity. There are other things she could tackle.” No matter what happens, de Rossi explained, “I don’t see the end of her show as her career ending.”

The 60-year-old daytime TV host added that she’s also not completely content with her image on the show, saying that she is more complex than it seems.

“The talk show is me, but I’m also playing a character of a talk-show host,” she said. “There’s a tiny, tiny bit of difference.” “She’s just a bit more complicated than she appears on the show,” de Rossi told the outlet. “There’s more range of emotion.”

In January Ellen opened up about what the next phase of her career would look like. She told the Today co-host Hoda Kotb, who was a guest on her talk show, “I don’t know [what I’m looking forward to],” she said. “That’s why I’m going to keep doing this until I figure that out.”

“I specifically did nothing. I’m one of those people that hates — not birthdays, I’ll go to your birthday. But I hate my birthday ‘cause I hate attention,” she said.

And when her co-stars from Pitch Perfect tried to take her out, she told them she was out of town!

“You know who’s really great about birthdays is all the girls from Pitch Perfect, and they always try to get me to do something with them. And I actually told them, I was like, ‘I’m in Vancouver visiting a friend.’ Well now they know that I wasn’t!”

So what did she do?

“I just sat at home and I organized my sock drawer and I didn’t do anything. It was amazing! I mean, I ordered a cake for myself, I’m not a monster. I’m not a sociopath!”
