]]>The creator Bruce Miller confirmed the plans for the show’s future in an official statement and said it was a true honor to tell Margaret Atwood’s groundbreaking story with the help of their loyal partners.
“We are grateful to Hulu and MGM for allowing us to tell this story, which unfortunately has remained as relevant as ever throughout its run, and are in awe of our incredible fans for their unwavering support, and without whom we never would have gotten to this point,” said Miller in a statement.
The Handmaid’s Tale is set in a dystopian world where women are stripped of basic rights, as the totalitarian government of Gilead takes power and forces some of them, called Handmaids, to bear children against their will. The series won an Emmy for an outstanding drama series in its first season, becoming the first streaming show to do so.
The fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere on Hulu on September 14 and it’ll star Elizabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, Ann Dowd, O.T. Fagbenle, and Samira Wiley.

]]>“After much thought, I felt I had to step away from The Handmaid’s Tale at this time,” stated the actress who has been a part of the Hulu show since its inception.
The dystopian world featured in The Handmaid’s Tale is undoubtedly harrowing, but it could be argued that Bledel’s character had it tougher than most. Emily had four different Commanders during her time in Gilead, was mutilated by the Aunts, and she even found herself sent to the dreaded Colonies at one point.
Yet, she survived it all and ultimately escaped to Canada (with a newborn in tow) where she was reunited with her wife and son.
The Gilmore Girls star’s performance even earned her an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in Drama Series.
“I am forever grateful to [creator] Bruce Miller for writing such truthful and resonant scenes for Emily, and to Hulu, MGM, the cast and crew for their support,” Bledel continued.
The Handmaid’s Tale is expected to return for its fifth season later this year.

]]>The Emmy-winning dystopian drama based on Margaret Atwood’s novel is returning on April 28. Like previous seasons, the 10-episode Season 4 will debut three episodes at once, before dropping the remaining episodes weekly.
The series co-stars Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Bradley Whitford, Ann Dowd, and Max Minghella.
Season 3 ended with June and other Handmaids and Marthas leading an escape of a plane full of children out of the former USA to Canada. Season 4 will see June recovering from the injuries she sustained and planning a new insurgence.
“We fight,” Elisabeth Moss’ June says in the trailer for the upcoming fourth season.
June’s life amid the rebellion is depicted in the trailer while a Radio Free America broadcast is played. “No matter where the war finds you today, remember we are still here,” says the voice of Radio Free America.
The Handmaid’s Tale was renewed for a fifth season back in December.

The Handmaid’s Tale was created by Bruce Miller and it’s based on the novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood. It’s set in a dystopian America where fertile women called handmaids are forced to bear children.
The Hulu series won a Primetime Emmy for best series. Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, Eric Tuchman, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Sheila Hockin, Kira Snyder, and Yahlin Chang also star in the series.
Will June be able to pull off the ultimate escape and move all the children of Gilead to Canada? We’ll have to wait until 2021 to find out, but for now, check out the teaser below.

]]>Among the slew of trailers dropped during Super Bowl 2019, the streaming service released the first full-length trailer for the upcoming and new season of The Handmaid’s Tale starring Elisabeth Moss as the lead.
The chilling teaser begins with Moss looking out a window — “It’s morning again in America,” a voice says over instrumentals music. “Today, more women will go to work than ever before in our country’s history. This year, dozens of children will be born to happy and healthy families.” But then June aka Offred (Moss) voice takes over and she says, “Wake up, America, morning’s over,” to the backdrop of cohorts of handmaids in front of what used to be the Washington Monument.
While the footage doesn’t reveal much, it does show June’s return to Gilead in order to retrieve her daughter Hannah (Jordana Blake). The eerie footage sure tells fans that this season will be more dangerous than ever for June.
This trailer comes just days after the streaming service released footage that featured June in the pale blue garb for “Marthas.”
Hulu has yet to confirm the debut of the upcoming third season of The Handmaid’s Tale.

]]>Hulu recently brought to life the story of the dystopian near future depicted in Margaret Atwood’s classic novel, The Handmaid’s Tale.
Hearts broke, beat faster, and soared at different moments as we followed the story of Offred who was forced to become a concubine for the Waterford family in the fictional country of Gilead.
The series, starring Elizabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, and Ann Dowd, proved so popular (winning multiple Emmys and Golden Globes) that a second season was broadcast.
The sophomore installment offered new territory for the writers — and book readers — as the first season had covered the entirety of Atwood’s novel.
But now, 33 years after readers where first introduced to Gilead, the Canadian author has decided to release a sequel based on their questions, due to the “world we’ve been living in”.
Yes indeed to those who asked: I’m writing a sequel to The #HandmaidsTale. #TheTestaments is set 15 years after Offred’s final scene and is narrated by three female characters. It will be published in Sept 2019. More details: https://t.co/e1umh5FwpX pic.twitter.com/pePp0zpuif

]]>And now we know just who might walk away with a golden statuette.
The nominations for TV’s biggest night came out on Thursday ahead of the awards show on the 15th of September.
Game of Thrones, which is about to embark on its 8th and final season, leads the nominees with an impressive 22 nods including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (for both Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage), and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (for Lena Headey).
Hot on GOT’s heels is Westworld and Saturday Night Live, both of which are competing in 21 categories.
Last year’s Emmy Darling, The Handmaid’s Tale — which took home Outstanding Drama, Lead Actress, Writing, and a bunch of other awards — will this time have 20 opportunities to climb the steps of the Microsoft Theatre, including the aforementioned categories.

This year will not see Veep continue its 3-year consecutive streak as the winner of Outstanding Comedy Series, as the show took a brief hiatus whilst its star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, battled cancer.
That gives an opportunity to Atlanta, GLOW, Black-ish, Silicon Valley, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Barry, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

]]>Showrunner Bruce Miller started looking for a way to write a part for Oprah ever since discovering she’s a big fan of The Handmaid’s Tale. He approached her after coming up with the idea that could work and she immediately accepted. Needless to say, working with the Queen of All Media was a lovely and easy process.
“The radio segment she recorded was inspired by the free radio of the Allies from World War II. It was an absolute honor to have Oprah featured on the show, and especially thrilling as she was the one who presented us with the Emmy last year,” said Miller.
Kira Snyder was in charge of working on the script for the latest episode of the hit show. She knew nothing about Oprah’s involvement but was beyond delighted to hear her say the words she’s written. Listening to her voice gave her chills, and fans of The Handmaid’s Tale felt the same way. They’ll probably be anticipating her comeback whenever Offred turns on the radio again.
