The talk show host announced “a full week of Ed” during one of his recent shows, explaining that the British singer is going to be on the show every night next week, taking part in sketches and performing his new music.

“We’re going to do comedy, we’re going to chat, he’s going to play … Ed Sheeran’s going to be our musical guest every night of the week, plus, right here on The Late Late Show he’s going to do the television debut of his brilliant new single ‘Bad Habits,’” said Corden.

“Bad Habits” is hitting the shelves this Friday, just a few days before Sheeran’s week-long run on The Late Late Show. It will serve as the lead single on his upcoming studio album, and he’s expected to perform it at TikTok’s UEFA Euro 2020 show on June 25th, where he’s set to appear with David Beckham.

“I don’t know, really. We wonder when someone will tell us when it’s okay,” said Corden when asked when he will be able to do Carpool Karaoke again by host Ellen DeGeneres.

Corden added that he’s “hopeful for the end of summer, or autumn time” and revealed that he already has “a whole raft of artists” he wants to host in the segment.

It usually features Corden and a  famous music star taking a ride through Los Angeles and singing along to popular songs while also discussing a number of topics.

The segment was also adapted into a television series by Apple TV in 2017. Three seasons of Carpool Karaoke: The Series have been made so far, with each winning Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series.

Harry Styles, Melissa McCarthy, Chance the Rapper, Ken Jeong, and Jeff Goldblum will step into Corden’s shoes and take on the hosting duties in the next few weeks. Alicia Keys will kick things off on December 9th, and the air dates for the rest of guest hosts are yet to be announced.

James Corden will be absent because he’s busy filming Ryan Murphy’s adaptation of hit musical The Prom, also starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and Awkwafina. Executive producers of The Late Late Show, Ben Winston and Rob Crabbe, are looking forward to welcoming other hosts to the show while he’s not around.

“We are of course going to miss James during these two weeks of shows. But it’s a great consolation that we have some of the biggest stars in the world to step into his shoes. We are really looking forward to these exciting, entertaining and ambitious weeks of shows,” said the duo in a statement.

The host and executive producer of The Late Late Show is in negotiations on a new multi-year deal with CBS. According to sources, the two sides have been in talks for quite some time. Variety reports that final terms were still being discussed so there’s no certainty that the deal will close.

Corden first signed with the network back in 2014 taking over as host replacing Craig Ferguson. CBS took a chance with Corden, back then a largely unknown personality from the UK. But that’s history — the acclaimed show is officially a success with Corden at the helm, earning Emmy nominations for an outstanding talk-variety show for the past three years.

Corden’s deal expires at the end of the 2019-20 season. CBS would not comment.

Their fun gathering, however, was interrupted shortly by the police. A police officer was driving beside them on the road, and decided to pull them over due to a strange request.

“I need you to pull you over so you can sing for me,” said the police officer to Adam Levine.

“You want to pull over so he can sing a song for you?” responded Corden.

“Yes, because you caused a traffic hazard,” added the officer before warning Levine and Corden to “just be careful” next time.

Although it looks like James Corden didn’t lose his cool during this meeting with law enforcers, the truth was quite the opposite. “I don’t know what quite happened there, I completely panicked,” he admitted to Levine. “I panicked in my absolute core.”
