Allen recently set down with Jimmy Fallon for an interview on The Tonight Show and revealed that Toy Story 5 is in development. He said that Disney CEO Bob Iger reached out to him and Tom Hanks to reprise their roles, adding he’s only considering this project because one of the original writers is involved.

“You wonder if four was too many, is five too much? According to the scuttlebutts, the writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones and he said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.’ So it could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it,” concluded Allen.

The last movie in the original series, Toy Story 4, premiered to rave reviews in 2019 and crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise. Toy Story 5 would give this franchise a much-needed boost after it suffered from the commercial failure of last year’s spin-off Lightyear, which reportedly lost Disney over $100 million.

Disney has been on a mission to create live-action adaptations of its classics, with the story of the wooden puppet hitting cinemas on September 8.

Plans to remake the 1940 animation were first announced in 2015, but a series of changes behind the scenes meant that filming only began in March 2021. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory director, Sam Mendes, and Paddington filmmaker, Paul King, were both attached to helm the movie at one point, yet Robert Zemeckis is the man who has eventually brought the story to life.

It was also Zemeckis’s long working relationship with Tom Hanks that led to the Oscar winner playing Gepetto. The pair has previously collaborated on Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and The Polar Express. Hanks had dropped out of the project when King left, but rejoined after reaching out to his frequent collaborator.

The Pinocchio teaser trailer introduces audiences to the elderly woodcarver, Cynthia Erivo’s Blue Fairy, and the CGI Jiminy Cricket who will be voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Notably missing is Pinocchio himself, with it seeming as though we will have to wait to see the titular character.

Elvis received the longest standing ovation in Cannes so far after premiering at the festival on Wednesday night. It won’t take too long for the rest of the world to see it, since it’s set to premiere in theaters on June 24.

Elvis sees Austin Butler take on the role of the King of Rock’n’Roll and chronicles his journey to stardom and his complicated relationship with manager Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). The film also stars Luke Bracey, David Wenham, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Clark Jr., Richard Roxburgh, and Helen Thompson.

Following the film’s premiere, Luhrmann praised the cast and crew for their bravery to finish shooting the film during Covid, adding he’s grateful for a chance to share it with an audience in Cannes.

“To see these streets so full of people who love movies of every form of life, every kind of movie, says so much more about what this place means and what it means to be back in the cinema. For that we are eternally grateful, Cannes,” said Luhrmann.

Miguel Sapochnikm, who helmed several Game of Thrones episodes, directed Finch.

Craig Luck and Ivor Powell wrote the movie. Powell also produced Kevin Misher, Jack Rapke, and Jacqueline Levine. Zapochnik and Luck exec produced with Robert Zemeckis, Andy Berman, Adam Merims, and Frank Smith, and Naia Cucukov.

Not only was Finch was originally titled Bios, but the movie also switched distributors and premiere dates. Originally it was set to be released in theaters by Universal Pictures in October 2020, but it was acquired by Apple in August.

But now we learn that another ultra-famous actor was supposed to appear on the iconic sitcom. 

Freddie Prinze Jr. tells Entertainment Weekly that Tom Hanks was actually the first choice to portray the “manny” Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) hired in “The One With the Male Nanny.”

“I wasn’t even supposed to be [Sandy], that was originally offered to Tom Hanks but he wasn’t gonna make it back from his film on time,” Prinze told Entertainment Weekly. “And so my agent called me and said, ‘Do you want to be on Friends? And I said, ‘Yeah, I’ll do an episode of Friends. That’ll be great.’ He said, ‘Yeah, it shoots tomorrow.’ and I was like, ‘What?’ He said, ‘Yes, tomorrow so I’ll send you the script.’”

The slew of famous actors and actresses that made an appearance on the show includes Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Danny DeVitto, Susan Sarandon, Ben Stiller, Helen Hunt, Paul Rudd, Brooke Shields and many many more.

The acclaimed director teams up again with actor Tom Hanks for the third installment in the Band of Brothers and The Pacific saga. But unlike the first two parts, which aired on HBO, the Masters of the Air WWII miniseries is coming to Apple TV+.

After HBO passed on the project, a statement was released by the premium cable network, which simply read: “After careful consideration, HBO decided not to move forward with Masters of the Air. We look forward to our next collaboration with Playtone and Amblin.”

Gary Goetzman, Spielberg and Hanks’ collaborator on the two previous installments, will also executive produce, with Hanks and Goetzman’s Playtone and Spielberg’s Amblin Television producing the series with Apple.

Apple TV+ launches on November 1.

News of the World was originally a Fox 2000 film, but it was transferred to Universal after the merger between Fox and Disney. the movie will be produced by hanks along with Gary Goetzman, and Gail Mutrux. Luke Davies will write the script.

The two-time Oscar winner, who is currently getting great reviews for his portrayal of Mister Rogers in the critically acclaimed biopic A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, is set to receive this honorary award at the 77th Annual Golden Globes on January 5th, 2020.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Lorenzo Soria announced the decision in an official statement and said they’re proud to bestow this award to Tom Hanks.

“For more than three decades, he’s captivated audiences with rich and playful characters that we’ve grown to love and admire. As compelling as he is on the silver screen, he’s equally so behind the camera as a writer, producer, and director,” said Soria.

The Forrest Gump actor will be following in the footsteps of Jeff Bridges, Oprah Winfrey, and Meryl Streep, who were honored with this award in the past three years. He could also score a nomination in one of the acting categories for his turn in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

The Toy Story 4 actor is taking on the role of Mister Rogers in the new biopic about Fred Rogers who delighted children for years with his TV series Mister Rogers’ Neighbourhood.

The film, directed by Marielle Heller, is based on a true story.

It will follow the unlikely friendship between the television host who passed away in 2003 and a cynical journalist who has been assigned to write a profile.

Matthew Rhys of The Americans plays the Esquire reporter who is also a new father, Lloyd Vogel.

The official trailer for A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood features Hanks in Rogers’ signature red cardigan, spouting the positivity that he was known for.

“Sometimes, we have to ask for help and that’s okay,” Hanks says in the clip. “I think the best thing we can do is to let people know that each one of them is precious.”
