]]>Noah shared the exciting news during a recent episode of his podcast What Now? with Trevor Noah and said he can’t wait to hit the Grammys stage again.
“I think it’s also important to acknowledge something. I’m hosting the Grammys. I’m excited about that, yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then experience and comment on it in person while it is happening,” said Noah.
2023 has been a pretty wild year for the South African comedian, who announced his exit as the host of The Daily Show. What Now? with Trevor Noah is his first major project following his departure and it launched on Spotify just last month.
The 66th Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. SZA topped the list of nominees with nine nods, followed by Phoebe Bridgers, Serban Ghenea, and Victoria Monét with seven each.

]]>Having just left his gig as host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah will be making his return to television to host the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The event is scheduled to be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5, 2023.
This is hardly the first time that the South African comedian has been in charge of the music awards. Noah hosted both the 2021 and 2022 versions, making it old hat by this point. Yet, it will mark his return to the small screen, having wrapped up seven years as host of the nightly talk show earlier this month.
The Grammy hosting role will also reunite Noah with staffers from The Daily Show who do work at the Grammys.
“Some of us work on the Grammys together, some of us work on other shows that I’m producing. It’s almost like that moment in soccer,” the 38-year-old Noah told The Hollywood Reporter.
“As a soccer player, you’ll play for your club and then you’ll play for the national team and there was always a moment where a player would retire from the national team. They’d say, ‘I’m no longer going to play at the international level, but I’ll still play for my club.’ And it’s always sad because they won’t be on the national team, but they’re still playing and they’re still playing with many of the players they know.”

]]>The Daily Show host and comedian Trevor Noah has been tapped to host next year’s Grammys.
The news was confirmed by the Recording Academy. This will be Noah’s first time hosting the music awards show.
“Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the GRAMMYs have refused to have me sing or be nominated for best pop album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event,” Noah said in a statement. “I think as a one-time GRAMMY nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona). See you at the 63rd GRAMMYs!”
Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, said: “With a knack for keeping viewers engaged and entertained, Trevor is the perfect choice to lead us through what’s sure to be an incredible evening full of music, unforgettable moments, unity and inspiration. He is a dynamic host, comedian and personality, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Grammy stage as host of Music’s Biggest Night for the first time.”
The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast January 31, 2021.

]]>Starting Monday, March 23, the show, which is produced and distributed remotely with Noah and The Daily Show working from their homes, will air weeknights at 11 PM on Comedy Central.
All late-night shows were shut down last week after concerns relating to the coronavirus, and many of them returned with online videos with the hosts doing monologues and remote celebrity interviews from their homes.
Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon’s videos have also made their way to television opening that night’s rerun of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The Daily Distancing Show with Trevor Noah first aired on the program’s online and social channels and it was the most complex late show, with elaborate editing involving short clips, images, and graphics. Since it premiered, it’s had over three million viewers per episode.

]]>If you were one of the millions who saw Black Panther (which is entirely possible because the Marvel film earned over $1.3 billion worldwide), you likely heard Trevor’s voice without knowing it. The South African comedian provided the voice for Groit the AI who controls the Wakandan Ship which Everett Ross, played by Martin Freeman, flies.

The film — set in a fictional African country — draws a lot from South African culture, with the characters speaking Xhosa which is Trevor’s first language.
As a result, the 34-year-old said, “There were subtitles, and I was like, I don’t need your subtitles! I don’t need your subtitles! This is just for me right now! Nobody else listens! This reminds me of my mom.”
Next time we hope to see your face as well, Trevor!

]]>It was announced in February that the autobiography penned by the South African comedian would be turned into a film.
Black Panther actress, Lupita Nyong’o, has already come on board to play Trevor’s mother, Patricia, as well as serve as co-producer alongside The Daily Show host.
Born a Crime has now been given a director, with South African, Liesl Tommy, set to helm the project.
Mense. Big news for this Cape Town girl. The gifted @Lupita_Nyongo and the great humanist @Trevornoah? How can there be anything but magic? https://t.co/J9XwtcYrSm
— Liesl (@LieslTommy) March 27, 2018
She has previously worked with Lupita on the Broadway production, Eclipsed, for which she made history by becoming the first woman of color to be nominated for a Tony Award for Best Director of a Play.
Liesl has expressed much excitement about the film, saying, “When I came home to Cape Town for Christmas in 2016, I gave my father, my brother and uncles Trevor’s book as Christmas presents. I loved it so much and thought they’d love it too because of the combination of humor and love of family with the Apartheid backdrop. Never in a million years did I imagine I’d one day be directing the film of that book. I’ve spent many years working all over the world, to finally get to come home to South Africa to shoot a project like this is a dream come true.”
As they say in SA — local is lekker.
