]]>News that the action drama from Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia will return for a second season in 2020 was confirmed by the network Wednesday.
“Blood & Treasure is a fun, escapist adventure with comedic elements filmed in multiple locales around the world that has been a great performer and a wonderful addition to our summer schedule,” Amy Reisenbach, CBS executive vp current programs, said in a statement. “We’ve heard the story pitch for season two and look forward to seeing all-new exploits from Russia to Southeast Asia next year.”
The action drama follows a former FBI agent (Barr) specializing in stolen antiquities who reluctantly teams with an art thief (Pernas) to catch a terrorist who funds his activities via stolen treasure.
The series also stars Michael James Shaw, Katia Winter, James Callis, Oded Fehr, Alicia Coppola, and Mark Gagliardi.

]]>After a very good 16 year run, host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, told her audience Wednesday that she has extended her talk show for three more years. This means that her talk show for Warner Bros. would continue its run through 2022.
“From the beginning, I said this show was going to be like a relationship,” DeGeneres told her audience. “We’ve been through the good, the bad, the Fifty Shades of Grey phase. It’s been a lot of fun and 16 years is a pretty good run. Sometimes in a relationship, you need to take a break. But I don’t. You’re stuck with me. I just signed for three more years.”
“Ellen is, quite simply, a force of nature,” Peter Roth, president and CCO OF Warner Bros. Television Group said in a statement. “Her energy, intelligence, kindness, and creativity know no bounds. ]]>The streaming service is making its first foray into the world of Stephen King, adapting for television his 1984 novel The Eyes of the Dragon.
The magical epic follows two boys who are next in line to rule the realm of Delain after the death of their dragon-slaying father.
The pilot was penned by Lego Batman Movie writer, Ghrahame-Smith. Smith is the first episode’s showrunner, and together with his KatzSmith Productions partner David Katzenberg, he serves as executive producer.
“I am so excited to be working in the world of Stephen King with with Hulu, which has such a terrific track record with Stephen King adaptations,” Grahame-Smith told Deadline. “The goal for this series is to feel unlike any Stephen King adaptation before, with this rich underlying source material, and the only true fantasy book he wrote that has kings and swords and princesses. We will honor the spirit of the book and the legacy.”
The project follows a line of forthcoming adaptations of King’s works, including Pet Sematary, and It: Chapter Two.

]]>Fox has greenlit another season of the sci-fi adventure series The Orville. News of the renewal comes weeks following its Season Two finale. The renewal, however, was expected as the show has been doing well, averaging 3.16 million total live viewers and a 0.75 in the 18-49 demographic.
Set 400 years in the future, The Orville follows The USS Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship manned with a crew of both humans and aliens.

Season 11 of Murphy Brown saw Bergen reprise her role as the famous investigative journalist and TV anchor. She reunited with her old gang: Corky Sherwood (Faith Ford), Frank Fontana (Joe Regalbuto) and their former news producer Miles Silverberg (Grant Shaud).
According to TVLine over its 13-episode run, which wrapped up in December, it ranked last among CBS’ eight sitcoms.
The revival made its return to the screen almost 20 years after the original run ended. During its original run it won 18 Emmys, three Golden Globes, two DGA Awards and two WGA Awards.

]]>NBC has picked up Blindspot for a fifth and final season. While the episode count has yet to be confirmed, according to sources, the count will be lower than previous seasons.
The series follows a mysterious tattooed woman (Jaimie Alexander) who is found naked inside a travel bag in Times Square by the FBI, with no memory of her own past or identity.
The mystery drama also stars Sullivan Stapleton, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, Ashley Johnson and Ennis Esmer.
The show was a big breakout hit, but its ratings declined in Season 2 and then again at the start of Season 3. According to Variety, the fourth season averaged 2.8 million total live viewers and a 0.48 in the 18-49 demographic.
Series creator Martin Gero shared a message of thanks on Instagram writing, “We’re in this together. All of us.” In 2014 I sketched out a five season plan for the show. ]]>The Hollywood Reporter reports that the comedy series, Twenties, originally developed at TBS as a pilot, is moving forward at Viacom’s BET.
The eight-episode half-hour series was created and written by Waithe when she was in her early 20s. It follows the adventures of a queer black girl, Hattie, and her two straight best friends, Marie and Nia, who spend most of their days talking ‘ish’ and chasing their dreams.
“Twenties has been a project I’ve been dreaming about for as long as I can remember. I think a lot of people were interested but didn’t see the vision. I’m so grateful Scott Mills and Connie Orlando did. I couldn’t be more excited to deepen my relationship with BET. I know audiences have been waiting a long time for this one,” said Waithe.
