The first full-length trailer for the upcoming ninth installment in the acclaimed horror franchise is here. 

We already knew that American Horror Story: 1984 is set at the fictional Camp Redwood, but now we learn who’s terrorizing the camp — Mr. Jingles who is an escaped patient from a nearby psychiatric hospital. Oh, yeah and his preferred killing MO is slashing throats.

The forthcoming season stars Emma Roberts, Matthew Morrison, Billie Lourd, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman, Gus Kenworthy, Angelica Ross, DeRon Horton, Zach Villa, and John Carroll Lynch. Sitting out the season is franchise leads Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters. 

Paulson has appeared in every episode of AHS since the beginning, so hopes are she’ll make a small role appearance anyway. Peters, however, ruled out any such possibility telling GQ, “I’m going to sit a season out. It’s just exhausting. It’s really mentally draining, and you don’t want to go to those places ever in your life.”

After weeks of waiting, another teaser trailer for American Horror Story: 1984 is here. 

Following FX Network’s reveal of the characters from the forthcoming installment of the acclaimed horror franchise, a new teaser trailer finally reveals the backdrop and villains of the season nine. 

The clip that was dropped Monday follows a group of blissfully ignorant campers excitedly arriving at the camp. Unaware that the opposite side of the camp’s signs reads “Beware,” they in true ‘80s slasher movie fashion, have to face a knife-wielding psycho killer hiding under the tailpipes and lurking around in the lake. 

While franchise stars Emma Roberts Matthew Morrison, Billie Lourd, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman, Angelica Ross, and Gus Kenworthy aren’t featured in the clip, you can see them in character in the previously released promo.

American Horror Story: 1984 premieres September 18 on FX.

FX announced Monday that the forthcoming installment titled AHS:1984 will premiere on September 18. 

Very little is known about the ninth season of the hit horror anthology. Very early in the year it was confirmed that alum Emma Roberts will return and newcomer Gus Kenworthy had been cast. In April creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the title of the installment and dropped a short clip that teased the installment’s vintage ’80s horror/slasher vibe. 

Executive producer Tim Minear said that the upcoming installment is a treat for fans of ‘80s horror. 

“I will tell you nothing, except that I think it’s awesome,” he said. “I think it’s gonna be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is. And that if you have a taste for ’80s horror, you’re in for a treat.”

“Generally, Ryan is ahead of the zeitgeist as opposed to following it,’ Minear added. “So what I would say is that this has been an area that Ryan has talked about since I’ve known him and it’s just a real sweet spot for him. And I think it was time for him to do it.”

Longtime star of the franchise, Evan Peters, will not be appearing in American Horror Story: 1984.

Murphy dropped the name of the next installment of his horror franchise — American Horror Story: 1984. If the title reveal wasn’t enough for AHS fans, the post also featured a short video of a teenage girl fleeing a big man with an even bigger knife chasing her in true ‘80s slasher films fashion.

1984 was the year some major horror classics hit the big screen, including A Nightmare on Elm Street, Children of the Corn and Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.

Confirmed to return to the forthcoming season are Emma Roberts and Olympian Gus Kenworthy, who will play an on-screen couple. Evan Peters recently announced that his won’t be back for season 9. Sarah Paulson has yet to give an details about her involvement.
