Cardi B is in the running for several American Music Awards this year, but she won’t be attending the ceremony just as a nominee. The hip-hop superstar will also be in charge of hosting the festivities next month in Los Angeles.

Cardi B continues the trend of the AMAs choosing Black female stars as their hosts. Cardi B is following in the footsteps of the Black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross (2017,18), R&B star Ciara (2019), and the Oscar-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson (2020).

Cardi B released a statement thanking the show’s executive producer Jesse Collins, ABC, and MRC for making this happen. She added she was very excited after receiving the invite to join the show as its host and said she’s ready to bring her personality to the AMAs stage.

The hip-hop star is in the running for three awards this year—favorite female hip-hop artist, favorite music video, and favorite hip-hop song with “Up”. The list of major contenders at this year’s AMAs also includes Olivia Rodrigo with seven nods and The Weeknd with six.

We’ll get to see how Cardi B does as a host when the American Music Awards return to LA’s Microsoft Theater on November 21st.

ABC and Dick Clark Productions announced that the 2020 American Music Awards will air on November 22.

It’s still unclear what format or if an audience will be present for the event, but the show will feature marquee performances while celebrating top music artists across genres.

The genres include Pop/Rock, Alternative Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Adult Contemporary, Contemporary Inspirational, Latin, EDM, and Soundtrack. They also give out awards for New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Video of the Year, Favorite Song, and Artist of the Year.

The nominees are set to be announced in October and they’ll be based on key metrics including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity, and touring.

The 2019 American Music Awards honored Taylor Swift as the artist of the decade, and the big winners of the night were Billie Eilish for the best new artist, BTS for the best tour of the year, and Khalid for the favorite male artist. Swift also went home with five awards including favorite album pop/rock for Lover and artist of the year.

Swift has surpassed Michael Jackson with 24 AMAs—Jackson comes in second place with 23, and Alabama is in third with 22.

The masterminds behind this year’s American Music Awards waited for so long to announce the host that the entire world expected a ceremony without one, but it turns out they had something truly special up their sleeve. Ciara will be in charge of hosting this year’s AMAs!

The R&B superstar is following in the footsteps of Tracee Ellis Ross, who hosted this ceremony twice in a row for the past two years. Ciara previously hosted Billboard Music Awards alongside Ludacris in 2016, so she’s no stranger to entertaining the audience at a major award ceremony.

The list of performers is also constantly expending – Kesha and Jonas Brothers are the latest artists added to the impressive lineup. They’ll be joining Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish, and many more who’ll grace the stage at this ceremony.

The American Music Awards will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 24th, with ABC taking charge of the live broadcast. Post Malone topped the list of this year’s nominations with a total of seven nods, and he was closely followed by Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish, who received six each.

The list of performers at this year’s American Music Awards is pure gold – and it just got a whole lot better! The Country superstar Shania Twain will grace the stage at this ceremony and perform a medley of her greatest hits.

Unlike the rest of the performers, Twain doesn’t have a new song or album to promote, but that doesn’t make her performance any less exciting. Her AMAs set will actually be a great way to tease her second Las Vegas residency, Shania: Let’s Go!

The Queen of Country Pop will kick off a series of concerts at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood with the first show taking place on December 6th. Her residency is supposed to run for two years, and she already confirmed a series of dates until June 6th, 2020.

A medley of Twain’s signature songs isn’t the only reason to be excited about the upcoming American Music Awards ceremony, taking place on November 24th. Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, Lizzo, and Thomas Rhett are also set to perform.
