The American Music Awards came back to Los Angeles on Sunday and gave us another epic show to remember. BTS was the biggest winner of the night with awards in three major categories, and they were closely followed by Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion.
The K-pop band had to beat some tough competition, including Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd to win the biggest award of the night—artist of the year. They also collected trophies for the best pop duo or group and favorite pop song with “Butter”.
Doja Cat also walked away with three awards—the collaboration of the year with “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA, favorite female R&B artist, and favorite R&B album with Planet Her. Megan Thee Stallion collected accolades for favorite female hip-hop artist, favorite hip-hop album with Good News, and favorite trending song with “Body”.
The list of major winners also included Olivia Rodrigo, who picked up the trophy for the new artist of the year, and Lil Nas X who’s viral hit “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” received the award for the best music video.
The American Music Awards took place on November 21st at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with Cardi B hosting the ceremony.
