]]>The post Mariah Carey to Perform at 2023 Billboard Music Awards appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Billboard described Carey’s upcoming performance as Aspen-inspired and revealed that the legendary choreographer Debbie Allen will oversee the creative direction. She’ll also be honored with the Billboard Chart Achievement Award for this beloved holiday classic.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” topped the Billboard Hot 100 every year since 2019 and went on to spend 12 weeks at No. 1 so far. This is quite an achievement considering this song came out all the way back in 1994, as a part of Carey’s first holiday Merry Christmas.
The Queen of Christmas will be in pretty good company at this year’s Billboard Music Awards since the list of performers also includes David Guetta and Bebe Rexha, KAROL G, NewJeans, Peso Pluma, Stray Kids, and Morgan Wallen.
The 2023 Billboard Music Awards will take place on November 19, and the ceremony will air live on Billboard’s official website. Taylor Swift topped this year’s list of nominees with 20 nods, followed by SZA and Morgan Wallen with 17 each.

]]>Swift is one of the contenders for the top artist trophy, where she’ll have to beat tough competition in SZA, Morgan Wallen, Drake, and Luke Combs. She also scored nods for top female artist, top Hot 100 artist, songwriter, and producer, top Billboard 200 artist, and Top Billboard Global 200 artist, among others.
She owes five of her nominations to her hit song “Anti-Hero”, including the Top Hot 100 song. The list of contenders in this category also includes such smash hits as “Creepin'” by Metro Boomin, The Weeknd and 21 Savage, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night”, and SZA’s “Kill Bill”.
Swift also scored nominations with two of her recent albums: the top Billboard 200 album with Midnights and the top country album with Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).
Morgan Wallen and SZA are both up for 16 awards with 17 different entries, while Drake and Zach Bryan are right behind with 14 nods. The winners will be announced on November 19, when the Billboard Music Awards are set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

]]>The post Shakira Set to Receive Billboard’s First Latin Woman of the Year Award appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The Latin Women in Music Gala will celebrate Latin female artists, executives, and creatives whose work had a positive impact on inclusion and gender parity in the music industry. The list of award recipients at the inaugural event will also include Ana Gabriel, Emilia, Evaluna, Goyo, and Thalia.
Leila Cobo, Billboard’s chief content officer for Latin/Español, described Shakira as “the ultimate woman in music” who forged the path for many artists after her.
“Thanks to her, Latin women all over the world have been empowered to write and perform deeply personal music. She created a movement all on her own, and continues to be more relevant than ever today, with grace, a deep tradition of giving back, and enormous talent,” said Cobo.
2023 is turning out to be another landmark year for Shakira, who set several major records with her smash hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”. This viral bop broke 14 Guinness World Records and became the most-streamed Latin track in 24 hours on both YouTube and Spotify.

]]>This award will be given at the Billboard Women in Music Awards ceremony, taking place at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles on March 1 and hosted by Quinta Brunson. SZA is following in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande, who picked up this award in the past.
Hannah Karp, Billboard’s editorial director, said they can’t wait to honor SZA as a Women of the Year and praised the success of her album SOS, which catapulted her into superstardom.
“Since she burst onto the scene in 2017, SZA has defied genres and continually released raw, powerful songs which have landed her music on the Billboard charts. The release of her latest album, SOS, has solidified her as a distinct force in contemporary R&B,” said Karp in a press release.
The list of honorees at the Billboard Women in Music Awards will also include Becky G (Impact Award), Doechii (Rising Star Award), Ivy Queen (Icon Award), Kim Petras (Chartbreaker Award), Latto (Powerhouse Award), Lainey Wilson (Rulebreaker Award), Lana Del Rey (Visionary Award), and TWICE (Breakthrough Award).

]]>The post P!nk to Be Honored with Icon Award at 2021 Billboard Music Awards appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>P!nk will join the ranks of Cher, Garth Brooks, Janet Jackson, and Stevie Wonder, who received this award in the past, and she couldn’t be more honored to be in such an amazing company.
“As a little girl, I always dreamed about being a singer and sharing my love of music with the world. Years later, to receive the Billboard Music Awards Icon Award is hard to fathom! It’s a true ‘pinch me’ moment and I feel humbled and blessed,” said P!nk in a statement.
Billboard’s Icon Award is reserved for “outstanding artists who have achieved excellence on the Billboard charts and have made an indelible mark on music itself.” This perfectly describes P!nk, since three of her albums hit no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and she topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart on four separate occasions over the years.
The 2021 Billboard Music Awards will take place on May 23rd, with Nick Jonas serving as host.

Chart Achievement Award: Mariah Carey, “All I Want for Christmas Is You”

]]>The post SZA Named Billboard’s 2023 Woman of the Year appeared first on EverydayKoala.

]]>In addition to the top new artist and top female artist, Rodrigo also picked up trophies for the top Hot 100 artist, top streaming songs artist, top radio songs artist, top Billboard 200 Global artist, and top Billboard 200 album with Sour.
Rodrigo’s chart-topping single “Good 4 U” was nominated in several categories including the top Hot 100 song, top streaming song, and top Billboard Global 200 song, but lost them all to “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber.
Drake was the biggest winner of the night after Rodrigo, with five awards, including top artist. He defeated Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd to get his hands on the show’s main award. This brings his total of BBMA wins to 34 awards overall, extending his record as the most-awarded artist in BBMA history.
