SZA has been dominating the Billboard charts ever since she dropped her sophomore studio album SOS and the publication found a great way to honor her recent successes. The R&B star was named Billboard’s 2023 Woman of the Year.

This award will be given at the Billboard Women in Music Awards ceremony, taking place at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles on March 1 and hosted by Quinta Brunson. SZA is following in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande, who picked up this award in the past.

Hannah Karp, Billboard’s editorial director, said they can’t wait to honor SZA as a Women of the Year and praised the success of her album SOS, which catapulted her into superstardom.

“Since she burst onto the scene in 2017, SZA has defied genres and continually released raw, powerful songs which have landed her music on the Billboard charts. The release of her latest album, SOS, has solidified her as a distinct force in contemporary R&B,” said Karp in a press release.

The list of honorees at the Billboard Women in Music Awards will also include Becky G (Impact Award), Doechii (Rising Star Award), Ivy Queen (Icon Award), Kim Petras (Chartbreaker Award), Latto (Powerhouse Award), Lainey Wilson (Rulebreaker Award), Lana Del Rey (Visionary Award), and TWICE (Breakthrough Award).
