]]>Considering it is the most popular streaming platform, Netflix is notoriously mysterious when it comes to its viewing figures. This may partly be because Netflix is frequently snubbed at major film events because they seldom publish figures about their original movies.
This week, however, Bloomberg reported the most viewed films on the platform within the first four weeks of release. The list includes Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock and Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction.
You can view the Top Ten list below.
In other Netflix original feature news, it was recently revealed that a Bird Box sequel is indeed in the works. Given the popularity of the original feature, we wouldn’t be surprised if Bird Box 2 beats Extraction in views.

]]>In 2018, Netflix dropped post-apocalyptic thriller starring Sandra Bullock. The movie was a huge success and had many critics questioning why Netflix is often snubbed when it comes to its original features.
The film is based on Josh Malerman’s 2014 post-apocalyptic novel. Bullock’s character navigates a world where an unseen entity drives people to commit suicide. She must wear a blindfold to prevent the entities from possessing her.
In a recent interview, Malerman revealed that a sequel to Bird Box is in the pipeline.
“I can’t say much, but I can say that it is in development,” he told Inverse. “Sometimes it’s weird, all this secrecy, but I’m game.”
We don’t yet no any details about the plot but Malerman has teased that the sequel may be inspired by his sequel novel, Malorie, which will be released in the coming weeks. The sequel is set 12 years after the events of the original and focuses on the children of the novel as teenagers. The pair are now navigating life in a post-apocalyptic world where the monsters have mutated into something even more terrifying.

]]>The duo have already released the album on their website for purchase but they will be dropping it on streaming services January 25.
“Like all soundtrack records we release, we aim for these to play like albums that take you on a journey and can exist as companion pieces to the film and as their own separate works,” Reznor and Ross said of the powerful score.
“We’ve created a significant amount of music and conceptual sound for Bird Box, a lot of which never made it to your ears in the final version of the film. We’ve decided to present you with this version of the soundtrack record that represents what Bird Box is to us. We hope you enjoy.”
Later on in the year, the Nine Inch Nails pair will be releasing a more padded out version of the tracklist. They say it will be “a more expansive physical-only offering… that will contain an additional hour of music and artwork that colors further outside the lines”
This expansive version of the soundtrack will be released in Spring.

]]>While some feel that the fact we do not see what the creatures look like worked well, others were left disappointed that there was no big reveal. Now, screenwriter Eric Heisserer has revealed that a scene did show what the creatures looked like, but it was deleted later on.
He said: “There was a time when one of the producers was like, ‘No, you have to see something at some point’ and forced me to write essentially a nightmare sequence where Malorie experiences one in that house.”
Sandra Bullock was afraid to see what the creature would look like but admits that when they bought it out, it did not look how she expected. She revealed: “It was snake-like, and I was like, ‘I don’t want to see it when it first happens. Just bring it into the room. We’ll shoot the scene.’ I turn and he’s like this [growling at me.] It’s making me laugh. It was just a long fat baby.”
In the end, director Susanne Bier was forced to delete the scene due to the fact that it “so easily becomes funny.”
