A sequel to the Netflix hit Bird Box is in development.

In 2018, Netflix dropped post-apocalyptic thriller starring Sandra Bullock. The movie was a huge success and had many critics questioning why Netflix is often snubbed when it comes to its original features.

The film is based on Josh Malerman’s 2014 post-apocalyptic novel. Bullock’s character navigates a world where an unseen entity drives people to commit suicide. She must wear a blindfold to prevent the entities from possessing her.

In a recent interview, Malerman revealed that a sequel to Bird Box is in the pipeline.

“I can’t say much, but I can say that it is in development,” he told Inverse. “Sometimes it’s weird, all this secrecy, but I’m game.”

We don’t yet no any details about the plot but Malerman has teased that the sequel may be inspired by his sequel novel, Malorie, which will be released in the coming weeks. The sequel is set 12 years after the events of the original and focuses on the children of the novel as teenagers. The pair are now navigating life in a post-apocalyptic world where the monsters have mutated into something even more terrifying.
