Netflix have shared that Bird Box has had the best first week out of any of their original movies.

The film, which stars Sandra Bullock and boasts several other big names including Sarah Paulson and John Malkovich, was released on December 13. It tells the tale of one woman’s fight for survival when the world turns apocalyptic as a result of creatures which force you to commit suicide when you look at them.

The film might have received mixed reviews from critics, but the public seems to be enjoying the movie and has been spreading the word to their friends. In its opening week, the movie was watched by 45,037,125 accounts, a personal record for the streaming platform

“Took off my blindfold this morning to discover that 45,037,125 Netflix accounts have already watched Bird Box — best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film!” they tweeted.

If you haven’t seen Bird Box yet, it’s available to watch on Netflix now. It’s pretty darn terrifying though… you’ve been warned!
