]]>The Crown ended with a bang last year after six seasons, and BAFTA TV Awards voters honored its final season with eight nominations. Surprisingly enough, the best drama series wasn’t one of them, and The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy made the cut instead.
That didn’t stop The Crown from scoring four nods in the acting categories, for Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw. It also secured four more nominations in the craft field, including best costume design, makeup/hair design, sound, and special effects.
It was also a great day for Netflix’s anthology series Black Mirror, which has been nominated for seven BAFTA TV Awards. Its episode “Demon 79” is one of the main contenders for best limited drama award, while its star Anjana Vasan received a nomination for best leading actress.
The 2024 British Academy Television Awards will take place on May 12 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

]]>This anthology series was developed by Charlie Brooker for the British network Channel 4, where it ran for two seasons before finding a new home on Netflix. It drew comparisons to The Twilight Zone and mostly explored the themes of technology and media in a dystopian future.
The sixth season of Black Mirror premiered on Netflix in June, after a four-year-long wait, and it was a mixed bag. Most of the episodes were met with lukewarm reception, receiving criticism for straying away from the show’s original themes.
The season’s opening episode “Joan Is Awful” was a rare exception, and it resonated with the viewers after tapping into AI-related themes. The story of an ordinary woman who finds out her life has been adapted into a TV show without her knowledge rang a bell, especially during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood.
The show’s sixth season featured a total of six episodes written by Charlie Brooker, but Netflix has yet to share any details about its upcoming follow-up.

]]>Black Mirror will return on June 15, and it will feature a total of five episodes, starring the likes of Aaron Paul, Michael Cera, Salma Hayek, and Kate Mara. The episode Joan is Awful was used as the focal point of the new trailer, and it centers on an average woman who learns that a global streaming platform launched a prestige TV series based on her life.
The new teaser also gave us a taste of episodes Loch Henry, which centers on a juicy mystery in a sleepy Scottish town, and Beyond the Sea, led by Aaron Paul and Josh Hartnett as two men on a perilous high-tech mission in an alternative 1969.
The season will continue with Mazey Day, the tale of a troubled starlet trying to escape invasive paparazzi in the wake of a hit-and-run incident. Season 6 will conclude with Demon 79, taking place in 1979 Northern England, where a meek sales assistant must commit a series of terrible acts to prevent disaster.
Charlie Brooker served as the writer of all Season 6 episodes, with the likes of Brooklyn’s John Crowley and USS Callister’s Toby Haynes coming on board as directors.

]]>The new teaser doesn’t reveal much of a plot, but it gives us a first glimpse of the show’s A-list ensemble. The new season will star Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Ben Barnes, Himesh Patel, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Zazie Beetz, among others.
The new teaser premiered ahead of a Netflix Showcase in London, and the show’s creator Charlie Brooker described Season 6 as “the most unpredictable, unclassifiable, and unexpected yet.”
“I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people — and myself — or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself,” said Brooker in a statement.
Season 6 will premiere on Netflix this June, but the official release date is yet to be announced. Like the previous five seasons and the interactive film Bandersnatch, the show’s next chapter will explore the damaging impact of technology on modern society.

Variety also reports that the new season of the series is believed to be in production and that it will feature more episodes than the previous one. Netflix officially renewed the show back in May, but they’ve yet to reveal when it’s going to premiere on this streaming service.
The plotlines of the upcoming episodes are also a mystery, but the creator Charlie Brooker previously suggested that the new season will have a lighter tone.
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh,” Booker told Radio Times.

]]>According to Variety, the upcoming season will be “even more cinematic in scope, with each installment being treated as an individual film.” Casting is currently underway, and the series still doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s expected to be produced by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones’ production house Broke & Bones.
Not much is known about the content of the upcoming Season 6, but Brooker previously told Radio Times that he’s keen to revisit his comic skill set and write scripts that make him laugh because he doesn’t know “what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart”.
The last season of Black Mirror premiered on Netflix in 2019 and it was much shorter than its predecessors. It featured a total of three episodes, starring Miley Cyrus, Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Black Mirror originally premiered on Channel 4 in 2011 before moving to Netflix and finding a bigger audience in 2015. According to its official logline, this anthology series explores “a twisted, high-tech multiverse where humanity’s greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide”.

]]>In case your memory needs a little jogging, “Bandersnatch” is Black Mirror’s interactive choose-your-own-adventure episode. Netflix users are able to choose what decisions the protagonist makes, leading to a different ending each time.
Poulter plays the game designer, Colin. Like his character in Bandersnatch, Poulter has a love of interactive video games and is about to release his brand new game, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope.
Speaking with NME, Poulter revealed that he would love to reprise his role as Colin. He then shared an idea he has had about how a Bandersnatch sequel would work.
“I would love to reprise my character,” Poulter said. “[Charlie Brooker, Annabel Jones and I] were discussing how much people engage with Easter eggs, and how the different episodes might be linked in some way. We did suggest that Colin might have the ability to time travel…”
“I would love it if [Colin] showed up in full-on, ’80s regalia,” he continued. “But he was, in fact, in the present day, or somewhere in the future. That would be really fun.”

]]>Christmas is approaching which usually means two things in entertainment. First, we’ll be joining everyone else in watching the same Christmas films for the sixth year running even though we promised we wouldn’t get sucked in this year. And second, new episodes of Black Mirror.
Last year, instead of gifting us with a whole season, an interactive Black Mirror film landed on Netflix. Titled “Bandersnatch”, the film allowed viewers to make decisions for the protagonist. Although no Black Mirror has been confirmed for Christmas this year, Brooker and Jones have shared that there may be scope for more interactive episodes in the future.
Jones told Digital Spy: “I think [interactive episode] ‘Bandersnatch’ has proven it can exist as a single film. I like that idea, doing one. It’s interesting for us, and hopefully for viewers, to find other ways… other forms of storytelling in which to dramatize things, if they’re earned.”
Brooker added: “Black Mirror is a flavour and a tone. We have some, fairly wobbly, internal rules about what it is and isn’t right for a Black Mirror episode that we never really articulate out loud, but it does feel pretty flexible.

The pink-wigged superstar is the character Miley played in an episode featured on the most recent season of Black Mirror.
In the episode, entitled Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too, the 26-year-old sang reworked covers of classic Nine Inch Nails’ songs, “Head Like a Hole” and “Right Where It Belongs”.
During her set, Miley — or is that Ashley O? — treated fans to both “Head Like a Hole” and the poppier “On A Roll”.
As it turns out, Black Mirror creator, Charlie Brooker, was with his wife Konnie Huq in the crowd, and we’re sure they enjoyed hearing the specially-adapted lyrics being played before an actual screaming crowd.
Let’s just hope that Ashley O’s aunt wasn’t nearby.

]]>The Crown ended with a bang last year after six seasons, and BAFTA TV Awards voters honored its final season with eight nominations. Surprisingly enough, the best drama series wasn’t one of them, and The Gold, Happy Valley, Slow Horses, and Top Boy made the cut instead.
That didn’t stop The Crown from scoring four nods in the acting categories, for Dominic West, Elizabeth Debecki, Lesley Manville, and Salim Daw. It also secured four more nominations in the craft field, including best costume design, makeup/hair design, sound, and special effects.
It was also a great day for Netflix’s anthology series Black Mirror, which has been nominated for seven BAFTA TV Awards. Its episode “Demon 79” is one of the main contenders for best limited drama award, while its star Anjana Vasan received a nomination for best leading actress.
The 2024 British Academy Television Awards will take place on May 12 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

]]>This anthology series was developed by Charlie Brooker for the British network Channel 4, where it ran for two seasons before finding a new home on Netflix. It drew comparisons to The Twilight Zone and mostly explored the themes of technology and media in a dystopian future.
The sixth season of Black Mirror premiered on Netflix in June, after a four-year-long wait, and it was a mixed bag. Most of the episodes were met with lukewarm reception, receiving criticism for straying away from the show’s original themes.
The season’s opening episode “Joan Is Awful” was a rare exception, and it resonated with the viewers after tapping into AI-related themes. The story of an ordinary woman who finds out her life has been adapted into a TV show without her knowledge rang a bell, especially during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood.
The show’s sixth season featured a total of six episodes written by Charlie Brooker, but Netflix has yet to share any details about its upcoming follow-up.

]]>Black Mirror will return on June 15, and it will feature a total of five episodes, starring the likes of Aaron Paul, Michael Cera, Salma Hayek, and Kate Mara. The episode Joan is Awful was used as the focal point of the new trailer, and it centers on an average woman who learns that a global streaming platform launched a prestige TV series based on her life.
The new teaser also gave us a taste of episodes Loch Henry, which centers on a juicy mystery in a sleepy Scottish town, and Beyond the Sea, led by Aaron Paul and Josh Hartnett as two men on a perilous high-tech mission in an alternative 1969.
The season will continue with Mazey Day, the tale of a troubled starlet trying to escape invasive paparazzi in the wake of a hit-and-run incident. Season 6 will conclude with Demon 79, taking place in 1979 Northern England, where a meek sales assistant must commit a series of terrible acts to prevent disaster.
Charlie Brooker served as the writer of all Season 6 episodes, with the likes of Brooklyn’s John Crowley and USS Callister’s Toby Haynes coming on board as directors.

]]>The new teaser doesn’t reveal much of a plot, but it gives us a first glimpse of the show’s A-list ensemble. The new season will star Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Ben Barnes, Himesh Patel, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Zazie Beetz, among others.
The new teaser premiered ahead of a Netflix Showcase in London, and the show’s creator Charlie Brooker described Season 6 as “the most unpredictable, unclassifiable, and unexpected yet.”
“I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people — and myself — or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself,” said Brooker in a statement.
Season 6 will premiere on Netflix this June, but the official release date is yet to be announced. Like the previous five seasons and the interactive film Bandersnatch, the show’s next chapter will explore the damaging impact of technology on modern society.

Variety also reports that the new season of the series is believed to be in production and that it will feature more episodes than the previous one. Netflix officially renewed the show back in May, but they’ve yet to reveal when it’s going to premiere on this streaming service.
The plotlines of the upcoming episodes are also a mystery, but the creator Charlie Brooker previously suggested that the new season will have a lighter tone.
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh,” Booker told Radio Times.

Not much is known about the content of the upcoming Season 6, but Brooker previously told Radio Times that he’s keen to revisit his comic skill set and write scripts that make him laugh because he doesn’t know “what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart”.
The last season of Black Mirror premiered on Netflix in 2019 and it was much shorter than its predecessors. It featured a total of three episodes, starring Miley Cyrus, Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Black Mirror originally premiered on Channel 4 in 2011 before moving to Netflix and finding a bigger audience in 2015. According to its official logline, this anthology series explores “a twisted, high-tech multiverse where humanity’s greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide”.

]]>In case your memory needs a little jogging, “Bandersnatch” is Black Mirror’s interactive choose-your-own-adventure episode. Netflix users are able to choose what decisions the protagonist makes, leading to a different ending each time.
Poulter plays the game designer, Colin. Like his character in Bandersnatch, Poulter has a love of interactive video games and is about to release his brand new game, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope.
Speaking with NME, Poulter revealed that he would love to reprise his role as Colin. He then shared an idea he has had about how a Bandersnatch sequel would work.
“I would love to reprise my character,” Poulter said. “[Charlie Brooker, Annabel Jones and I] were discussing how much people engage with Easter eggs, and how the different episodes might be linked in some way. We did suggest that Colin might have the ability to time travel…”
“I would love it if [Colin] showed up in full-on, ’80s regalia,” he continued. “But he was, in fact, in the present day, or somewhere in the future. That would be really fun.”

]]>Christmas is approaching which usually means two things in entertainment. First, we’ll be joining everyone else in watching the same Christmas films for the sixth year running even though we promised we wouldn’t get sucked in this year. And second, new episodes of Black Mirror.
Last year, instead of gifting us with a whole season, an interactive Black Mirror film landed on Netflix. Titled “Bandersnatch”, the film allowed viewers to make decisions for the protagonist. Although no Black Mirror has been confirmed for Christmas this year, Brooker and Jones have shared that there may be scope for more interactive episodes in the future.
Jones told Digital Spy: “I think [interactive episode] ‘Bandersnatch’ has proven it can exist as a single film. I like that idea, doing one. It’s interesting for us, and hopefully for viewers, to find other ways… other forms of storytelling in which to dramatize things, if they’re earned.”
Brooker added: “Black Mirror is a flavour and a tone. We have some, fairly wobbly, internal rules about what it is and isn’t right for a Black Mirror episode that we never really articulate out loud, but it does feel pretty flexible.
“So I don’t think there’s anything to stop us… we could do one-offs, we could do an ongoing story, we could do spin-offs.”
Unfortunately, we still have no idea when season six will air.

]]>The “Mother’s Daughter” singer performed at the English music festival dressed as her alter-ego, Ashley O.
The pink-wigged superstar is the character Miley played in an episode featured on the most recent season of Black Mirror.
In the episode, entitled Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too, the 26-year-old sang reworked covers of classic Nine Inch Nails’ songs, “Head Like a Hole” and “Right Where It Belongs”.
During her set, Miley — or is that Ashley O? — treated fans to both “Head Like a Hole” and the poppier “On A Roll”.
As it turns out, Black Mirror creator, Charlie Brooker, was with his wife Konnie Huq in the crowd, and we’re sure they enjoyed hearing the specially-adapted lyrics being played before an actual screaming crowd.
Let’s just hope that Ashley O’s aunt wasn’t nearby.
