Black Mirror returned for its highly-anticipated sixth season earlier this year, and there’s more where that came from! The acclaimed anthology series, which explores the impact of technology on the modern world, will officially return for its seventh season on Netflix.

This anthology series was developed by Charlie Brooker for the British network Channel 4, where it ran for two seasons before finding a new home on Netflix. It drew comparisons to The Twilight Zone and mostly explored the themes of technology and media in a dystopian future.

The sixth season of Black Mirror premiered on Netflix in June, after a four-year-long wait, and it was a mixed bag. Most of the episodes were met with lukewarm reception, receiving criticism for straying away from the show’s original themes.

The season’s opening episode “Joan Is Awful” was a rare exception, and it resonated with the viewers after tapping into AI-related themes. The story of an ordinary woman who finds out her life has been adapted into a TV show without her knowledge rang a bell, especially during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood.

The show’s sixth season featured a total of six episodes written by Charlie Brooker, but Netflix has yet to share any details about its upcoming follow-up.
