The post “South Park” Will Kick-Off its 24th Season with an Hour-Long Special appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The season will begin on September 30 on Comedy Central with an hour-long special episode titled “The Pandemic Special”. As the name suggests the episode will deal with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Randy comes to terms with his role in the COVID-19 outbreak as the on-going pandemic presents continued challenges to the citizens of South Park,” the official synopsis reads. “The kids happily head back to school but nothing resembles the normal that they once knew; not their teachers, not their homeroom, not even Eric Cartman.”
Judging by the trailer for the new episode, Randy and Cartman will be at the center of the story. Randy is seemingly trying to cash in on the situation, announcing a “pandemic special” of his own. Cartman is trying to avoid going back to school after the long break due to the pandemic. “They’re going to try and make us go to school. Do you really want to go back to that slavery?” he asks Stan in the trailer. Stan, on the other hand, is more worried about being infected by Cartman.

]]>However, the organizers have decided not to cancel the festival altogether and they are still holding out hope that this year’s festival will take place later in the year. In their statement, the organizers said that they were considering “several options” to hold the event, “the main one being a simple postponement … until the end of June, beginning of July 2020.”
The organizer continued to say that they will continue to monitor the health situation and that they were in ongoing consultation “with the French Government and Cannes’ City Hall as well as with the Festival’s Board Members, Film industry professionals and all the partners of the event.”
In the meantime, it is still unclear whether the Marché du Film, the film market that runs alongside the Cannes festival, which planned to set up as a virtual market this year will be held. It may move its dates to run along with the festival when it will be held.

Chinese fans reacted enthusiastically to the news. “Is this for real?? Put out all eight of them at once; I’ll just live in the cinemas!”, one of the fans wrote on Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter). Another fan wrote: “With the 4K restoration and the 3D, this will be like a whole new film. Even if you’ve seen Harry Potter already in theaters, this will be an unprecedented new experience.”

]]>The first day of screenings included Chinese titles such as Liberation, My People, My Country, Sheep Without a Shepherd, and the animated film Spycies. It also offered four children movies including three in the Alibaba franchise. The theater, which is located in the capital of the Xinjiang region in western China, tried to lure people in with free screenings for parents with children, but not a single person arrived.
“We can’t stay closed forever,” the theater operator said in a statement. “We can only cooperate with the notices, and test the situation a bit, and see what feedback we get from the public. If there are no new films, it makes no difference if we’re open or not. At the moment, we only have these few films; we have to wait and see if there will be new movies released.”
For safety reasons, the theater will be operated by only three staff members who will disinfect the theaters before and after the screenings. Tickets will only be sold in the theater and not online.
