]]>Tennant, whose impressive filmography includes such beloved TV shows as Doctor Who, Broadchurch, and Good Omens, said he’s delighted to have been asked to host the BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life.
Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA, said that Tennant is deservedly beloved by British and international audiences alike, and added they’re happy to welcome him as this year’s host.
“We are over the moon that David Tennant will be our host for the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards… His warmth, charm, and mischievous wit will make it a must-watch show next month for our guests at the Royal Festival Hall and the millions of people watching at home,” said Millichip.
The BAFTA Awards nomination will be announced by Naomi Ackie and Kingsley Ben-Adir on January 18, while the ceremony will take place on February 18 at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

]]>Created for Amazon by its co-author Gaiman, Good Omens centered on angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, who got used to a pleasant life on Earth and must join forces to save it from impending doom.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant led the series as Aziraphale and Crowley, while its star-studded supporting cast included Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Michael McKean, Derek Jacobi, Brian Cox, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Frances McDormand.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, confirmed the show’s renewal for its final season and promised its next chapter will be packed with the same dynamic energy that fans of this show have come to enjoy.
“Good Omens has checked every box for a clever, witty, and funny comedy that not only made it a success on Prime Video but also made ‘goodness’ watchable and fun thanks to Neil and Terry’s immense creativity,” said Sanders in an official statement.
The production of the final season is underway in Scotland, and it will most likely feature six episodes.

The second season will see them trying to get back to easy living amongst mortals—until the archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) turns up at their door, with no memory of who he is. They must hide him from both Heaven and Hell, thus disrupting the peaceful existence they worked so hard for.
The star-studded ensemble cast has always been one of Good Omen’s biggest strengths, and the first season also featured Adria Arjona, Miranda Richardson, Michael McKean, Jack Whitehall, Nick Offerman, Brian Cox, Mireille Enos, and Frances McDormand.
Good Omens draws inspiration from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s novel of the same name, and it originally premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2019. It’s been renewed for the second season in 2021, and we’ll finally get to see it on July 28.

]]>Rivals is a part of Cooper’s iconic series of novels The Rutshire Chronicles and it centers on the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England. The series will explore the long-standing rivalry between two powerful men—member of parliament and notorious womanizer Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex) and controller of the independent TV franchise Corinium Television, Tony Baddingham (Tennant).
Turner is joining the cast as TV presenter Declan O’Hara, while Dyer will play a self-made electrics millionaire Freddie Jones. The show’s supporting cast will include Nafessa Williams, Bella Maclean, Katherine Parkinson, Victoria Smurfit, Claire Rushbrook, Oliver Chris, Lisa McGrillis, Emily Atack, Rufus Jones, Luke Pasqualino, and Catriona Chandler.
Jilly Cooper gave this adaptation her seal of approval, saying she can’t wait to be on set and see the cast bring the characters she loves so much to life, especially since the acting ensemble “features some of the best acting talent that the British Isles has to offer.”
Dominic Treadwell-Collins’ (A Very English Scandal) is producing the series via Happy Prince, while Elliot Hegarty (Ted Lasso) serves as the lead director.

]]>Shortly after Jodie Whittaker announced her exit as the Thirteen Doctor, BBC started plotting something amazing for the show’s 60th anniversary. They reunited with showrunner Russell T. Davies, who’s responsible for bringing the Doctor into the 21st century, and he convinced several beloved cast members to come back on board.
The new teaser features David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble. The duo is expected to make a comeback in the three-hour-long 60th-anniversary special, set to premiere in November 2023.
The return of Tennant and Tate will give you major nostalgia overload, but the new teaser also looks into the future. Ncuti Gatwa, who’s set to play the Fifteenth Doctor, appears at the end of the teaser asking, “Will someone tell me what the hell is going on here?”
Gatwa will take over from Tennant in Season 14, which started filming earlier this month. It will feature a total of eight episodes, set to premiere in 2024.

According to reports, Gatwa will begin filming the show’s 14th season in November, though it is only expected to air in 2024.
However, audiences may grab a glimpse of the 29-year-old actor as The Doctor before then. It is believed that Gatwa will make his first appearance in the anticipated special scheduled for 2023 which will commemorate the 60th year of Doctor Who. David Tennant will reprise his role as the Tenth Doctor, with Neil Patrick Harris playing the villain.
Harris previously told Variety that Gatwa will “be the first gay Doctor, which is going to be super cool.” The Scottish actor is also set to be the first black actor to lead the series.

Tennant will also be sitting down with Brian Cox, Star Trek’s George Takei, and Dave Judi Dench. He is also scheduled to speak with politician Stacey Abrams and the comedian, Tim Minchin.
With such an eclectic host of speakers, there is no telling what topics of conversation will arise.

]]>Deadline reports that Tennant and Jumbo have been set as the leads of the forthcoming crime drama. The will star opposite previously announced Anna Madeley (The Crown) and Matthew McNulty (The Terror).
The series hails from Daisy Coulam.
Tennant will play admired local doctor Tom Kendrick, while Madeley plays his loving wife Kate, a primary school teacher. After a house fire, which he survives, but his wife and their kids don’t the finger of suspicion points first to Tom and then to others.
Jumbo stars as Jess, who was Kate’s best friend and confidante. Jess becomes desperate to understand what could have caused such a tragedy, no matter how devastating the truth may be.
“Daisy Coulam has written something very special, chilling and fascinating with these scripts,” said Tennant. “I am honored and delighted to be part of telling this extraordinary story.”
“I’m so excited to be part of bringing Daisy’s dark and mysterious story and the character of Jess to life,” added Jumbo.

In the trailer for his podcast, the former Doctor Who star said: “Hello, podcast land, it’s David Tennant, perhaps surprisingly I find myself doing a podcast, yes, get ready for it. It’s lots of lovely people dropping by, hanging out and that’s basically it.
“It’s pretty low concept, but so far, it’s sounds rather delicious. Me and some cool people talking and stuff on a podcast… like I said, it’s very low concept.”
Ian McKellan, Whoopie Goldberg and Krysten Ritter are also on the list of stars who will be special guests on the podcast. Former UK prime minister Gordan Brown will also be joining the mix. We are certainly intrigued.
