]]>All hell broke loose following the Don’t Worry Darling screening in Venice after a viral video apparently showed Harry Styles spitting on Chris Pine. The blink-and-you-miss-it moment led to countless tabloid headlines and think pieces, and Pine even had to craft a statement saying that Styles didn’t spit on him and called him a “very, very kind guy.”
Many months later, the story didn’t quite die down, and Pine decided to clear the air during a recent interview with Esquire. The Star Trek actor revealed that the Grammy-winning singer simply leaned down and said, “It’s just words, isn’t it?”, referencing an inner joke between them.
“We had this little joke, because we’re all jetlagged, we’re all trying to answer these questions, and sometimes when you’re doing these press things, your brain goes all befuddled, you know, you start speaking gibberish, and we had a joke like, ‘It’s just words, man,’” explained Pine.
The drama surrounding Don’t Worry Darling is now long behind Pine, and he’s focusing on other projects. He’s currently busy promoting Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and he’ll make his directorial debut with Poolman later this year.

]]>The Black Widow actress stars as Alice Chambers, a young married woman in the 1950s. She and her husband Jack (played by Harry Styles) live in the idyllic town of Victory which is run by the company Jack works for. Life is seemingly perfect until Alice begins to question her suspicious Stepford Wife surroundings.
Olivia Wilde, who features as one of the Chambers’ neighbors, also directed the flick, which marks her follow-up to 2019’s Booksmart. She said during CinemaCon 2022 that the movie was inspired by Inception, The Matrix, and The Truman Show.
The film’s first official trailer has now been released and suffice it to say that it feels like a fever dream. It’s easy to see why Alice feels the walls are literally closing in on her.
Chris Pine plays the CEO of Jack’s company and is fittingly creepy as he tells the young lady, “I’ve been waiting for someone like you, someone to challenge me…”
The rest of the cast is rounded out by Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, Sydney Chandler, Kate Berlant, Asif Ali, Douglas Smith, Timothy Simons, and Ari’el Stachel.
Don’t Worry Darling is out on September 13, 2022.
