Olivia Wilde’s follow-up to her directorial debut Booksmart was a long-time coming and she finally gave us a glimpse of this highly-anticipated project! The first trailer for Don’t Worry Darling stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles and it’s as tense and mysterious as it gets.

According to its official logline, Don’t Worry Darling centers on young couple Jack and Alice living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. Their seemingly perfect start unrevealing once Alice starts questioning the nature of her husband’s work.

In addition to Styles and Pugh, Don’t Worry Darling stars a star-studded ensemble cast, including Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, Chris Pine, and Wilde herself.

The trailer was released shortly after it first debuted at CinemaCon. While attending the film’s presentation at this event, Wilde described it as “a love letter to movies that push the boundaries of our imagination”. She cited films Inception, The Matrix, and The Truman Show as inspiration, in addition to psychological thrillers Fatal Attraction and Indecent Proposal.

Don’t Worry Darling will premiere in theaters on September 23 and it will start streaming on HBO Max 45 days after its theatrical release.
