]]>Shell centers on a struggling actress Samantha, whose life and career are transformed after she agrees to get a free trial at Shell, a pioneering health and beauty company that promises to keep its clients looking young forever. She notices something is amiss after former Shell patients start disappearing under mysterious circumstances.
In addition to playing the lead role, Elisabeth Moss will produce the project through her company Love & Squalor. She’s looking forward to being directed by Minghella after working together for years on The Handmaid’s Tale.
“This is one of the most unique, entertaining, and special scripts I’ve ever read and I am so honored to be a part of it as an actor and flattered that Max came to me with this character, who’s unlike anyone I’ve ever played before,” she said in a statement.
Shell will explore the themes of society’s obsession with youth and beauty, and it marks Minghella’s second directorial effort, following his feature debut Teen Spirit starring Elle Fanning.

]]>The upcoming fifth season will see June (Elisabeth Moss) face the consequences of her actions after killing Commander Waterford. The first look photo shows her dressed in white, staring intensely at the camera with an angry and determined look on her face. The second photo gives us a glimpse of widowed Serena (Yvonne Strahovski), wearing all black while mourning her husband’s death, but her smile is as peaceful as can be.
Many fans have wondered if the upcoming fifth season will be the show’s last, but The Handmaid’s Tale creator Bruce Miller said he won’t rush the ending because he enjoys working with the incredible team that made this show happen.
“Honestly, yes, I know what the end is and I’m not going to overstay my welcome but I’m also not going to rush off if I don’t have to because as long as I am writing for Elisabeth Moss, you know, it really doesn’t get much better,” Miller explained in an interview for Deadline’s Contenders TV virtual event.

The Handmaid’s Tale star will produce the film with her production company Love and Squalor Pictures. Virginia Feito will be in charge of writing the script, and Moss admitted she was so impressed by her novel that she read it in one sitting.
“As a character, she is fascinating, complex, and deeply human and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into her. Mrs. March is exactly the kind of engaging and challenging female-led project that Love and Squalor Pictures is built to make,” said Moss in a statement.

]]>The post Elisabeth Moss to Play Texas Killer Candy Montogomery in True Crime Series appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The series, titled Candy, will be based on the true story of Candy Montgomery (Moss) and her victim Betty Gore. In Texas in 1980, Montgomery, who seemed to be living the perfect life with a loving husband, daughter and son, a good job, and beautiful suburban house, killed her friend from church with an ax.
So far, no network has been attached to the project and UCP is expected to shop the series soon.
Many of the people that worked on the Hulu/UCP true crime series The Act are set to reunite for Candy. The Act co-creator Nick Antosca serves as executive producer with Moss, and The Act and Mad Men writer Robin Veith wrote the script for the series and will executive produce as well.
“I have been wanting to play an anti-heroine for a while now, and have been trying to work with Robin again after ‘Mad Men’ for even longer, so when she asked me if I wanted to play a housewife from Texas who, some would say, got away with murder, I simply said, ‘Where do I sign?’” Moss said.
Moss was nominated for an Emmy for her role on Mad Men and she currently stars in the Emmy-winning Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale. Her recent film roles include Shirley and The Invisible Man. She’s set to star in the Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins.

]]>The acclaimed horror flick had a successful run at the box-office and received some rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Given that the film was a hit, it’s only natural for us to be curious about whether a sequel is in the works.
Speaking with Bloody Disgusting, Moss said: “Look, if people want it, that’s kind of a big part of what we need in order to do it. So put the word out there that YOU want it and then I’ll help!”
Earlier this year, producer Jason Blum revealed that there were no plans to make a sequel, but that he would be down for a sequel happening.
“There are no plans to make a sequel, but I would love to make a sequel,” he told Digital Spy. “And I’m certainly going to try and make a sequel. But so far, there are no plans to make one.”
There may be no sequel in the works as of yet, but it looks like a sequel is definitely on the cards.

]]>The new trailer was unveiled Friday ahead of the film’s February 28 premiere.
The film hails from writer-director Leigh Whannell and stars Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men, The Handmaid’s Tale).
In The Invisible Man, Moss played Cecilia Kass, who is trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen. The new trailer dives deeper into the story and reveals, perhaps too much, of what happens when a man who faked his own death discovers how to become invisible.
“The interesting thing was that I was constantly shooting these empty rooms, and empty corridors, and there’s something a bit uncinematic about that,” Whannell told Entertainment Weekly. “I mean, when you make a movie, the idea is that you put people in the frame — you put something in the frame. When you’re shooting nothing, it goes against the grain of every cinematic instinct you have!”

Published in 1985 The handmaid’s Tale became an important feminist text. It depicts the life of women in a religious dictatorship, being subjected to exploitation.

]]>We’re hoping to get answers to those questions and others now that The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for season 4.
Hulu confirmed that the series would be returning during the Television Critics Association event.
The first two seasons of the show based on Margaret Atwood’s book have garnered 11 Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series. Amongst the wins was also an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award for Elisabeth Moss who plays June-cum-Offred-cum-Ofjoseph.
The titular handmaid attempts to survive in the dystopian country which the United States has become while plotting a revolution to escape.
Seasons two and three veered past the source material provided by Atwood’s novel, with the forthcoming fourth season expected to follow suit.
Blessed be the fruit.

]]>The film is a feature adaptation of Thomas Savage’s 1967 novel of the same name. It follows brothers Phil (Cumberbatch) and George Burbank. The two brothers are joint owners of the biggest ranch in their Montana valley. When George secretly marries local widow Rose (Moss), an angry Phil wages a relentless war to destroy her by using her son Peter as a pawn.
“The Power of the Dog is a sublime novel that deserves a life on the big screen. I couldn’t stop thinking about the story, it really haunted me. The themes of masculinity, nostalgia and betrayal are an intoxicating mix,” Campion said. “It’s also rare to find a story where the themes, the plot and the characters build tension as they reveal each other and even the end is satisfying and unexpected. It will be the first time I’ve worked with a male lead, which is exciting. Phil is a charismatic and complex character who declares war on his brother’s new wife and her teenage son.”
The film is set to go into pre-production at the end of the year. It will be presented to buyers at Cannes via Cross City Films.
