Disney+ gave us several amazing shows set in the Star Wars universe, and another one is on the way. The first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi sees Ewan McGregor return to his most iconic role, with several familiar faces keeping him company.

The events of Obi-Wan Kenobi are set 10 years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The series follows the titular Jedi Master as he tries to cope with the downfall and corruption of his friend and apprentice Anakin Skywalker after he turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader.

The Grand Inquisitor (Ruper Friend) will also be one of the series’ main villains, and the trailer features his dramatic voiceover. “The key to hunting Jedi is patience. A Jedi cannot help what they are. Their compassion leaves a trail. The Jedi code is like an itch, he cannot help it.”

McGregor isn’t the only actor returning to his Star Wars role in Obi-Wan Kenobi. The series will also star Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars, and Bonnie Piesse as Beru Lars. Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Benny Safdie.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on May 25th, and it will feature a total of six episodes.

Ewan McGregor is fresh off his Emmy win for Halston, and his next big TV role will be even more exciting. He’s set to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the upcoming stand-alone Disney+ series, and he promises that this project “won’t disappoint”.

McGregor picked up the award for outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie for his work on Halston and took a moment to talk about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series following his victory.

“We finished shooting our series, and it was really, really good fun. I really enjoyed working with Deborah Chow, and I think it will not disappoint. The new technology that we employed doing it is cool, and it was a different experience than making the original three films that I did,” the actor told reporters backstage.

In addition to McGregor, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will also see Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, and Bonnie Piesse reprise their respective roles from the Star Wars movies. Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. are some of the newcomers set to join them. The series will consist of six episodes, and it’s expected to premiere in 2022.

We won’t have to wait too long for Ewan McGregor to done Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi robes.

In a Zoom appearance on BBC’s The Graham Norton Show McGregor revealed that Disney+’s untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series will begin filming in March 2021.

“It’s the Obi-Wan Kenobi story, I suppose. It’s not all me, but it certainly will be a lot of me, which is good,” McGregor said of the show. “We start shooting it in March next year.”

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series was announced back in August 2019 and was supposed to start filming the following year, but the shoot was delayed after writer Hossein Amini left the project in January 2020.

Amini was replaced by Joby Harold in April of 2020 and then the scripts were rewritten which forced production to be delayed into 2021. Deborah Chow, who directed part of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, will helm the series.

McGregor played Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and has reprised the role in the voice cameos for 2015’s The Force Awakens and 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

There’s no release date for the unnamed Kenobi series.

The world will shine again.

The first official trailer for The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep is finally here.

The highly anticipated screen adaptation of Stephen King’s 2013 horror novel of the same name stars Ewan McGregor as an adult Danny Torrance, Jack Nicholson’s on-screen son in The Shining. Danny is battling a drinking problem and the emergence of strange powers.

“When I was a kid, I bumped into these things. I don’t know about magic. I always called it the shining,” he says in the trailer. The trailer also flashes iconic scenes from the haunted Overlook Hotel including the old woman in the bathtub, the Grady twins in the hallway and the blood tidal wave.

“We pick up Dan in New Jersey and in the throes of his alcoholism, kind of right at rock bottom is where we meet him,” writer-director Mike Flanagan said. “He’s nomadic, he’s violent, he’s crawled so far into a bottle that there doesn’t seem to be an easy way out. It’s really kind of a strange experience to meet your hero kind at their most awful version of themselves. Structurally, it’s really fascinating, from a writing point of view. You kind of feel like, ‘This is our hero, ladies, and gentlemen, you’re going to meet him puking.’ So, yeah, we pick up Dan at the lowest point of his life, and, more than anything, this is a story about his redemption and trying to avoid repeating the same fate that his father had to deal with, outside of the hotel, just with his own addiction.”

Doctor Sleep hits theaters November 8.

Ewan McGregor may be nearing 50, but his inner child is still alive and well.

The actor’s latest flick is a retelling of the childhood classic, Winnie the Pooh, where he plays a grown-up version of Christopher Robin.

When asked whether filming Christopher Robin made him nostalgic for his own childhood, the 47-year-old simply said, “I always feel my childhood is quite close to me.”

He continued by saying, “I’ve had the luxury of playing for my life. I get to play at work and I get to use my imagination to earn my living so I’m close to my childhood anyway. I feel that’s part of adulthood that we have to leave behind, but I didn’t have to.”

As a father of 4 daughters, Ewan revealed that he used to read the AA Milne books, on which the film’s characters are based, to his children when they were younger.

“There are several volumes of AA Milne’s books and I’m very familiar with the first one. I can only assume it was read to me as a child because I read that to my kids. I have just always known Winnie the Pooh, he’s one of those characters.”

Never grow up, Ewan!
