]]>While it is a given that not everyone is going to be satisfied, numerous people have argued that season 8 feels completely out of line with the rest of the series — reversals of character development, events moving too quickly, and even plot points that make no sense (we’re looking at you, Mad Queen…)
But thousands of fans now want to change that.
A petition has been created, urging HBO to remake the season with “competent writers”. They believe that creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss “lost the plot” when the television show surpassed the books written by George R.R. Martin.
“David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on,” the petition reads. “This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
So far, almost 500,000 people have signed the petition.

]]>With the final season of the HBO series scheduled to hit screens in about two weeks, the network has released the latest set of images.
The stills include pictures of Daenerys Targaryen, Sansa Stark, Brienne of Tarth, Jorah Mormont, Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, and Bran Stark — all looking rather serious and quite cold!
Many of the images look to take place in Winterfell which makes sense as we know that Jon will be taking Daenerys there, where she will meet the rest of the Starks.
She will be joined by Tyrion who has not returned to the Starks’ territory since the show’s first season.
HBO has announced that fans will receive a special two-hour-long documentary following the conclusion of the last season to help them with their withdrawal.
Game of Thrones: The Last Watch will air on 26 May, while the series final season premieres on 14 April.

]]>It’s no secret that the final season of Game of Thrones is set to include a rather large, epic battle.
The recently released teaser trailer demonstrates what we’re in for as it depicts Daenerys Targaryen’s all-important war map at Dragonstone being engulfed by flames and frost.
The sequence is a nod to both Dany’s two dragons taking on the White Walker army (with Dany’s other dragon!), as well as the original title of George R. R. Martin’s book series, A Song of Ice and Fire.
Get your dragonglass while you can — winter is coming in April 2019.

]]>Amidst all the action which took place in season 7, fans were very sad not to see Jon Snow’s beloved direwolf, Ghost.
Let’s not forget that throughout the series Ghost has saved Sam’s life, defended Davos, and, of course, loyally protected Jon.
His absence in season 7 was due to practical reasons as the direwolves are created through CGI.
“The direwolves are tough because you don’t want to get them wrong, so we end up always shooting real wolves and doing a scaling trick with them, but the real wolves only behave in certain ways,” said VFX supervisor, Joe Bauer said. “I think that has something to do with why the direwolves are in the show but they’re not maybe as integral as they are in the books.”
But don’t worry, Ghost is back for the final season.
“Oh, you’ll see him again. He has a fair amount of screen time in Season 8,” Bauer told Huffington Post. “He does show up… he’s very present and does some pretty cool things in Season 8.”
Let’s hope he makes it out alive…

]]>The post Kit Harington on GoT Finale: “Not Everyone’s Going to Be Happy” appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The most recent cast member who “slipped” about the topic was Kit Harington, who plays the character of Jon Snow on the show. Harington discussed Game of Thrones finale during his appearance at 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and hinted that there will be fans who won’t be too happy with the show’s ending.
“I think a TV series that’s spanned eight, nine years is an incredibly difficult thing to end,” –said Harington, who already finished shooting on Game of Thrones. “I think not everyone’s going to be happy, you know, and you can’t please everyone. My favorite TV shows are Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and The Wire, and they all ended in a way that…It’s never going to satisfy you.”
If we read between the lines, Harington is trying to tell us that lots of our favorite characters will end up dead, something that show has been doing to us since season one. The darker outcome would be that White Walkers end up conquering the Westeros and that all our heroes turn into undead. Unfortunately, we will just have to sit here with all these crazy ideas and wait for HBO to be kind enough an release season eight at some point in 2019.

]]>No. That’s why we’re glad we have Peter Dinklage to divulge just what is going through the brain of the Hand to the Queen half the time.
We know that Tyrion is brilliant at strategizing and calculating, but when it comes to emotional situations, he is less adept.
So just what was going through the mind of the youngest Lannister when he spotted Daenerys and Jon Snow getting it on during the season 7 finale of Game of Thrones?
“Ah, it’s complicated…” Peter told Entertainment Weekly. “A lot of the time with Tyrion, it’s professional and personal. Obviously, he has feelings for Daenerys. He loves her — or thinks he does. She’s awe-inspiring. He’s questioning that because he doesn’t have a good track record for falling in love. There’s jealousy wrapped up in there.”
And, on top of that, he’s known Jon a really long time, going back to their shared time at Castle Black.
“He loves Jon Snow, too. They’re the two people he has the most in common with, in a way — they’re both outsiders in their own families who have refused to follow the path their family has taken, and hopefully for the better. He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Dany getting romantically involved is], because passion and politics don’t mix well. He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous.”
Things are definitely likely to get more complicated when the final season of GOT airs in 2019.

]]>Those holding their breath for the latest — and final — season of Game of Thrones will have to wait a bit longer.
It was expected that the final foray to Westeros would take place around April 2019 as has been the month in which most of the excursions occur.
But visual effects supervisor for the series, Joe Bauer, has not put what appears to be a dragon-sized spanner in the works.
“We’re going to be toiling away on Season 8 until May of 2019, so it’s eight or nine months away,” he said in an interview with Huffington Post.
The cast of the HBO drama has already wrapped filming, with all technical aspects now being performed to transform green screen into dragons and direwolves.
The result is that we likely won’t see season 8 until much later in 2019 in order to make the show eligible for the 2020 Emmy Awards.
We have no doubt that it will be worth the wait.

Enter Lady Sansa, AKA Sophie Turner, whose latest tattoo has Thrones fans on high alert.
The 22-year-old is no stranger to getting inked. She and best friend Maisie Williams (who plays her sister, Arya, on the HBO show) both have the numbers 07.08.09 tattooed on their arms which signifies the day that they found out they were cast on Game of Thrones.
Sophie’s newest tattoo is a lot more detailed, and, as a result, a lot more spoilery.
The ink creation, done by Australian tattoo artist, Lauren Winzer, includes a drawing of the Stark family logo and the words: “the pack survives”.
We know that all men must die, but let’s hope there’s a pass this time…

]]>“We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019].” said Williams when asked about the progress of the show. “That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”
Still, the 20-year-old actress couldn’t reveal many details about her character. Instead, she said that she would want Arya to “be happy”.
“I’ve always said I wanted her to find peace.” she said. “The things that have been driving her through her story have been very bitter and twisted and aggressive. I would love for Arya to find her true self again and let go of this anger and revenge that’s accompanied her on this journey. I’d love for her to be happy.”
The last season of Game of Thrones will contain six episodes, the fewest so far. The story will feature mostly original content which is not found in the books of George R. R. Martin.
In case you are reluctant to leave the world of Westeros, don’t worry. According to reports, there are five spinoffs in development at HBO, and at least one of them will get a series order. The network recently revealed that spinoff/s would premier in 2020.

While confirming the 2019 airing date, HBO also shared some info about the directors and writers. Benioff and Weiss will be among the directors of the season, alongside David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik. Nutter and Sapochnik directed 10 episodes of Game Of Thrones on previous occasions combined and both received Emmy Awards for Best Directing (Nutter for “Mother’s Mercy“, Sapochnik for “Battle of the Bastards“). The showrunners Benioff and Weiss are also the writers of the show’s final season, joining forces with Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.
Filming for the eight season of the show began on October 23, 2017. Unlike previous seasons, this one will only consist of six episodes, but they will have a longer run time. Also, the material for the final season will be mostly original and based on the guidelines provided by A Song of Ice and Fire writer George R. R. Martin. Martin is currently writing the final novels in the series, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring. It is important to note that the ending of the TV show and the novels might not be the same.
