The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is coming in 2019, we already know that. But HBO didn’t point out the exact date and left us wondering how much longer we would have to wait. Luckily, Maisie Williams, who portrays the role of Arya Stark in HBO’s hit series, spilled the beans while talking to Metro news and revealed that the last season of the show is set to premiere in April 2019.

“We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019].” said Williams when asked about the progress of the show. “That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities.”

Still, the 20-year-old actress couldn’t reveal many details about her character. Instead, she said that she would want Arya to “be happy”.

“I’ve always said I wanted her to find peace.” she said. “The things that have been driving her through her story have been very bitter and twisted and aggressive. I would love for Arya to find her true self again and let go of this anger and revenge that’s accompanied her on this journey. I’d love for her to be happy.”

The last season of Game of Thrones will contain six episodes, the fewest so far. The story will feature mostly original content which is not found in the books of George R. R. Martin.
In case you are reluctant to leave the world of Westeros, don’t worry. According to reports, there are five spinoffs in development at HBO, and at least one of them will get a series order. The network recently revealed that spinoff/s would premier in 2020.
