In addition to sharing the first-look photo, the studio also announced the title change, switching from Captain America: New World Order to Captain America: Brave New World.

Not much is known about the plot just yet, but Marvel already started setting the stage with the Disney+ show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Harrison Ford will join him as s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the President of the United States, taking over from William Hurt after his passing. The supporting cast will also include Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, and Liv Tyler.

Harrison Ford spent the past four decades portraying Indiana Jones, but he’s finally ready to hang up the hat. The beloved action hero confirmed that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will mark his last appearance as the cinema’s most iconic archeologist.

Ford recently set down with Total Film to discuss his future in the Indiana Jones franchise and said he’s happy to go out with a bang.

“This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character… I had been ambitious to do this film for 10 years, and there finally came a time when we all committed to that. It was a joyous moment for me. I think it’s a rare situation that I find myself in,” he told Total Film.

Ford also said he anticipates this will be the last time Indiana Jones appears on film, adding that he won’t be involved in the Indiana Jones TV show if comes to fruition.

Ford made his debut as the whip-smart archaeologist in Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, and The Dial of Destiny marks the fifth and final installment in this series. It will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month before being released in theatres on June 30.

There’s a lot of anticipation surrounding the lineup of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and it seems one of the year’s most anticipated blockbusters will premiere in Cannes. Indiana Jones & The Dial of Destiny is eyeing the world premiere at one of Europe’s most prestigious film festivals.

Nothing is official just yet, but Disney and Lucasfilm are determined to get The Dial of Destiny into the lineup. According to Variety, the film is most likely looking at a day 2 (May 17) or day 3 (May 18) premiere, but Cannes officials are yet to lock down the official date with the studio.

This would be somewhat of a full-circle moment for the beloved adventure franchise since the last Indiana Jones film The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull also had its world premiere in Cannes, where it received a four-minute standing ovation back in 2008.

Following its Cannes premiere, The Dial of Destiny is expected to hit the theatres on June 30. Expectations are running high since it took $295 million to finish the movie in the face of several production delays and director changes.

Harrison Ford will return as our favorite globe-trotting archaeologist for the fifth and final time, and he’ll be joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, and Mads Mikkelsen.

The new series traces the origins of Yellowstone ranch owners the Duttons by telling the tale of a family patriarch Jacob Dutton and his wife Cara. The cast of the prequel series also includes Jerome Flynn, Jennifer Ehle, Timothy Dalton, Sebastian Roché, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, and James Badge Dale. 1923 will premiere on Paramount+ on December 18, right after one of the latest Yellowstone episodes from the show’s ongoing Season 5. The set of Indiana Jones 5 will be without its main star Harrison Ford for several weeks after the 78-year-old actor injured his shoulder. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ford got hurt while rehearsing one fight scene, but the extent of the injury remains unknown.

The news was later confirmed by Disney’s spokesperson, who said in a statement that the movie will continue production regardless although the filming schedule is set to be reconfigured.

Indiana Jones 5 started filming in early June, eyeing a July 29, 2022 release date. It will be the first movie in the franchise that won’t be directed by Steven Spielberg, with James Mangold (Logan) taking the helm. Spielberg remains involved as a producer.

The development of Indiana Jones 5 began shortly after the release of the fourth movie Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Initially, the movie entered pre-production in 2016 but was met with several delays and script changes. In early 2020, Spielberg stepped down as a director and brought in Mangold, who wrote an entirely new script to direct from.

Besides Ford, the cast of Indiana Jones 5 will also include Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, and Thomas Kretschmann in undisclosed roles. John Rhys-Davies (Sallah) and Karen Allen (Marion Ravenwood) previously expressed interest in reprising their role from earlier films, but it remains unknown whether they are actually attached to the project.

Hold on to your hats, people, because Indiana Jones might be getting a female touch.

It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Harrison Ford playing the swashbuckling archeology professor, but the director of the franchise, Steven Spielberg, thinks it might be time to have the iconic character played by a female.

“We’d have to change the name from ‘Jones’ to ‘Joan’. And there would be nothing wrong with that,” Spielberg told The Sun.

The gender switch may happen even sooner than we think.

The Ready Player One director and 75-year-old actor are confirmed to team up for the 5th installment of Indiana Jones, though Spielberg has said: “This will be Harrison Ford’s last Indiana Jones movie, I am pretty sure.”

However, he continued by saying “[The franchise] will certainly continue after that,” giving hope that a kick-ass actress could be commandeering that whip in the future.

Swapping the sex of traditionally male characters has already happened in BBC’s Doctor Who whose 13th Doctor will be played by Jodie Whitaker. Much campaigning has also been done for James Bond to finally become “Jane Bond”, with English actress, Gillian Anderson, putting her hand up for the role.

Well, they do say that if you want something done right, ask a woman.
